40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

    Here is the link guys

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNGa9W7rALw
SO what is the 997 Turbo's redline. Is the 7k redline's overboost function?

997 TT's red line is at 6750 rpm.

Overboost starts falling off at 4000 rpm and boost pressure drops to "non-overboost" level by 5000 rpm.

This will be a tuners dream

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

Is there a reason why the video is upside down?

Don't know the reason: however, this car is very, very slow. More than 20s for 200kph-275kph. Very strange.

P.S.: Boost pressure max is only 1.0 bar... Something is wrong here.

Yeah, based on this video, 50-160km/h takes more than 8-9sec. 50-200km/h takes 14sec. Of course, these times are very roughly estimated from the video, but still...

And as you said, the boost pressure is mainly at 0.9bar.
But wait!... Overboost isn't working over 4'000 rpm or so, right? So that would explain it. Nothing wrong here. Overboost is useless under these conditions.

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

I think this is real performance of 997 Turbo. Yes, this one is little bit too slow but, still...
The one I tried lately(manual with LSD) was little bit faster but, according to my calculation the one I drove needed around 42s till 300km/h(maybe even 1s more!).
BTW, we did little race against 997 Turbo TIP from 140km/h till around 250km/h... Result? 997 Turbo manual(me driving) about 50cm ahead TIP. End I even did not shift to sixth!
My guess? Both manual and TIP are about the same form 0-300km/h, manual(in right hands) could be little bit faster...

Kreso, I don't think so. This car is (much) slower at above 200kph than my old 996TTS...

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

For the upside down view dunno maybe a cellular cam record maybe. It doesnt matter how it is record.

For the accelereation issues dunno but car is going well till 220kmh to me but after that it is not as good as like the acceleration like 220kmh.

With this video i cant stop thinking like Kreso as the old topics about porsche 997 Turbo accelration to the 200-300kmh

BTW is the overboost issues ok for the video. Normal?

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

Is it just me or is the car in this video no faster than the standard 996TT?

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

Looks like it could use some bump at higher speeds, evoms already has a project car see whatr they can do, useing the existing turbo

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

ok.. ASK cayenne ksa from 6speedonline.... he did the video
BTW he was with the phonecam... the reason for the "head down" video.

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

Ok can you post the answer of the owner of the video here if no problem
Also i found his 0-250kmh video

the video of 0 to 250km/h isnt from the same guy

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

Here's a thought. With the owner being in Saudi Arabia, could the extreme heat there have influenced the performance by this much?

    Are u serious Crash??
Hmmm i dont think so, "Please dont drive your Turbos when it is hot because it goes with less performance" warning seems a little funny.
For example last week Istanbul was 40 degree celcius(car was indicating 43.5 on autobahn) and drove my car as normal. So also Miami, LA, SD weather is hot on summer , isnt it? Also i dont see any supercar owners in Dubai complain about hot for their cars.(which is hot place).

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

First of all-this is a TIP version! I belive that it is giiving us the answer who is faster in 0-300km/h, TIP or manual.
Second, I experienced same acceleration when I drove TIP. Even with SC on and floored throttle car is not as forcefull as manual above 250km/h... With manual when you shift from fifth to sixth gear at around 255-260km/h you get the extra kick(if you apply throttle perfectly after relasing the clutch) and car is going very fast till 300km/h.
This video remind me to SL55 AMG driving, same gearbox as well...

Doesn't seem much faster than the E55...

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

So two different videos. for 0-250 video.

The 100 seems to be on low 4's and 200 seems mid 13's also 100-200 seems low 9's.

It is better than E55 isnt it. E55(stock) 0-200km is about mid 14's when i check my knowledge.

I'm talking about the 294 km/h run. The E55 has no chance aginst it until after 200 km/h.

Re: 40kmh to 294kmh acceleration of 997 Turbo video

Both the E55 and the 997TT are absolute slow boats - compared to a CGT's 0-180MPH time of 32 seconds.

Yes but no need to reach 200 it is still has no chance around 120-130 imo

BTW i remember the sport auto GT3 997 test the numbers are worse than porsche's claimed and same as that 997 TT until 160. I remember the GT3 run 0-160km about 9.2(8.7 porsche claim) nearly same as the 997 TT and 0-200kmh about 13.9(13.5 porsche claim) of course worse than TT. However its ring time was not bad.

We need to watch more videos. I am start to think that we were cheated by the numbers on paper. Not to mention porsche i say generally includes all cars. BTW Kreso's expeirence and thought is important related to this videos.

That's 34... You owe me twenty laps around the car, let's go!
