    X51 headers

    Hi,
Are there any pics of the x51 headers on the net?
I'd just like to see how they compare to the standard S ones and the after market ones.
Also, does anybody know what the cost of the x51 headers might be from Porsche?
    Regards
    Simon

    Re: X51 headers

go to fabspeed and watch the exhaust comparison video. If it is true they say that X51 headers are the same as 996 headers while the 997 S gets f u c k e d u p version.

    Re: X51 headers

    Thanks, I'll have a look

    Re: X51 headers

Actually, I read somewhere earlier about the 997S headers,--don't go by appearances. Don't jump to conclusions.

Why would anyone take advice from someone who sells mufflers out of his driveway ?

Can you please forward me this info. every tuner that I have talked to (American and European) thinks that these headers are not worth anytthing and there is a gain there.

I have one thing to ask though lets not discuss this if you are not a believer of aftermarket improvements. I do not think that what Porsche builds is perfect since they have to think from marketing perspective, comply different emissions and etc. I believe that it can be improved and once you are believer of one side it is pretty much a dead discussion.

    Re: X51 headers

    Hi
Any chance of one of you lucky guys with x51 taking some pics of the headers?
    Regards

Fabspeed claims over 40 HP for their exhaust system .
( heck, they claim 10 HP for a rubber elbow ) Lol

Some aftermarket vendors claim up to 32 HP for the K&N Cold air intake system (and they can prove it on a dyno.)

    That's over 70 HP right there .
If you believe everything these yokels tell you , go for it.

    Re: X51 headers

What about Tubi? They don't make exagerated claims like the others. Even my dealer says that there is some power gain, but definetely no more than 20hp.

    Re: X51 headers

you should definitely go add all up, very intelligent. I believe 20-25 to have with full exhaust and a chip tuning. you can go up to to 400 with camshafts vs vs.

As I said with a point of yours why go into a debate.

    Re: X51 headers

Today I went to the Porsche dealer and checked the headers part number for both the 997s and the 997s x51 they have deferent part number.

So I believe that thy look deferent.

I think the reason for the post was to try and get a picture of the x51 headers. There are pics of the 997S headers on the Fabspeed website and it's obvious they are different than the one on the 997 - we all just want to see what the x51 looks like. It would have been interesting to see if the x51 part number and the 997 part number were the same or maybe the same as the 996 part number. Anyone know?

    Here's one for you.

    Re: X51 headers

The 997S headers (shown at the bottom of the attached picture) sure look more restrictive than the x51 headers.

These look like the stock 997 S headers. The X51 headers are shown in the above picture by avantgarde and look alot like the Fabspeed headers.

I think that's what I said - the bottom headers in the picture are what came off a stock 997S.

    Re: X51 headers

Wow...those look like they'd make a difference vs stock.

Keep in mind that a 20 hp increase over the whole power curve would definitely be faster. If it's only at or around peak or redline then you probably won't feel much improvement.

    Re: X51 headers

    Wow. Thanks Avantgarde.
    Much appreciated.
    Regards

    Re: X51 headers

...Avantgarde....they, the x51 photo of yours....look JUST like the OE on my 997 C2.....now replaced with EvoMs ...which look just like the FabSpeed image our friend jhbrenna showed us. By the way the other headers he shows, from the Fabspeed site, are NOT 997 design (c2or 4 it is claimed)--they are 996---

    Cheers

    Re: X51 headers

You're talking about the headers in the Fabspeed video correct? He (Fabspeed) does say they are off a 996. The ones in the Fabspeed picture (bottom set) I attached are off a 997S.

This are indeed the headers from my C2S w/ X51, I believe the C2 has rather similar headers that are albeit smaller in cross sectional diameter.

    Here's a closer picture...

    Re: X51 headers

Thanks for the pic - it still begs the question why Porsche uses what might be considered a more restrictive header on the stock 997S while all the other 997's and the x51 get something less restrictive and possibly more free-flowing.

    Re: X51 headers

Maybe to justify the cost for the X51 .. ?
Porsche has an almost mathematical HP difference between the Cars in its line up.

    Boxster/Cayman 245hp
    Boxster/Cayman S 295hp
    Carrera 325hp
    Carrera S 355hp
    Carrera S(X51) 381hp
    GT3 415hp
    Turbo 480hp

    Re: X51 headers

what is really weird is that the X-51 headers are not equal length (rule no. 1 for good headers). Perhaps there is room for improvement, even for X-51 owners.

However, I agree with Dan: there are other factors to take into account (style of the merge collector, clean wlekds, polishing etc.). Ultimetaly, there is only one real way to find out: before and after dynos. All else is peculation.
