    Cost of Lapis Blue vs. Cobalt Blue

    I was out playing on Porsche's web site and noticed that they swapped Lapis Blue and the Cobalt Blue. It used to be the Lapis Blue was $690USD and the Cobalt Blut was $3090USD. Now its reversed. I thought that "maybe" they charged more for the cobalt blue because of the pigment. I guess not - its just pure marketing. Oh, well...For 3K for a canned color I must as well pay 4K for paint to sample...

    Just be grateful you didn't have your heart set on seal grey - that's only now available as colour to sample.

    It is always this way with Porsche, they charge what they do *Because they can*, it really is as simple as that.

    Look at the Carrera GT order guide sometime. $8,000+ for painted brake callipers.

    Porsche changes up its color option every 2-3 years or so. It used to be Speed Yellow was a $3,000 option, now it is free. Its just what they do.

    Interesting prices - normal etallic in UK is Pounds563 or near enough $1k, whereas specials are Pounds1500 ($2900). The US is 30% cheaper on normal metallics, but more expensive on the specials !

    Porsche does it to profit off of posers who think there's something exclusive and therefore inticing in paying thousands for a color. The truth is GT silver, for example, is not much better looking than Seal or Arctic but it's priced to seem like something special. I agree, if you're going to pay $3k for a color, pay another grand and really get something special.

    Agree, to pay $3K for somethings "special" I would pay the extra for what I really want, beside the color to samples is much more choice than the special colors.
