New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

    Looks like $53.9k with 411hp and 310 ft-lbs:
    http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/08/17/2007-bmw-m3-e92-pricing-leaked/

Fyi - the motor specs are virtually identical to the ones for the GT3 for almost exactly half the price...

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

New M3 will cost around 70000Euro in Germany so, something is clearly wrong with USA price. Engine specs are the right ones!

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

yes kresof1 the american market seems to benefit from incredible car prices and cheap leases.....makes me feel all the worse for paying my car full in cash

What is the price of current M3 in Germany? E46 M3 is $48k here i think...

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

    48k?????? inpossible! thats 37k euro..too cheap!

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

Even though it is not going to explain the full difference, do not forget the US prices are subject to VAT, whereas EURO prices are inclusive VAT.

On bmw.de the baseprice for an E46 M3 coupe is Euro 49,051 subj to VAT.

    It's $48,900 see here:
    http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/m/m3coupe/default

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

But the usual sticker price is a bit above 55K...
Gauging from the new price it seems the new M3 will be slightly above 60K US.
Still a very good deal for 411HP.

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

as you say its an excellent deal ...

I can't see why the new car would be over $60k with options. The most expensive option used to be SMG and now it's free. Also, I would happily pass on the Luxury equipement package (sunroof, better stereo, etc.). I would need VERY few options on one of those...

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

Wow. I'm really going to go to my local Beemer dealer in a few months and get some tests on the 335i and m3. Then, based upon which law school I get into, I'll bank roll some $ into one of them

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

How about this-BMW will prerelease M3 e92 "Showcar" in Paris 2006 but, official presentation will be in Geneva 2007. First delivery late spring/early summer 2007...
So, this price list could be pure BS. But, we will see...

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

Thanks for the link Grant .

    Impressive indeed.

Same here in Spain, which equates to about $85k.

Wonder if the US-spec version will have the same Specs as the RoW-spec I remember that when the E36-M3 came out in the US, the engine was a detuned engine with only 250HP and at a significant cheaper price than Europe.

Otheriwise that US price is way too cheap, even for the american market. For that kind of money, you can't even buy a simple 3-series Coupe in Europe! the 325ci with only 218HP starts at 40,000 Euro

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

Should've stayed in the US, Carlos . Personally, I'd rather take the 335, change the suspension, brakes and exhaust and remap the engine. That would beat the M3 in all speed ranges.

Carlos - US and ROW power levels have been nearly identical since 2001. I think it will stay that way...

The current M3 costs $48,900 and has the same engine as the one in ROW which costs WAY more than here...

Current US M3 MSRP is some ?$55K w/typical options....and is widely discounted/available....and comes w/cheap $0 down lease plans and ?4 yrs free mtce incld....clearly, it's a competitive mkt segment and BMW doesn't have much apparent pricing power....so would expect perhaps 2-3% MSRP increase in new iteration....

But would be stunned if BMW can actually engineer/build motors that don't explode; SMGs w/o egregious software glitches; and brakes that don't easily fade.....e.g., the "new" M5 still sounds like it's a reliability disaster, despite being much, much delayed in its US intro (to presumably try to resolve some of those "issues")....but cars w/cheap MSRP, $0 down/2yr lease plans (a subtle form of mfr discts avail on M5 even at initial US launch ) and free mtce (which competitors don't seem to need to offer ) should raise suspicions.....

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

There is one BIG advantage of new M3 over 335i and that is M-Differential or LSD!
Regarding the price info on M3post it could be pure BS as I said before...

Yes, but I think there are several avaialble in the aftermarket (good opportunity to change to a lower differential final drive ratio also while in there).

True. And if you wanted to go all out, you could just get Quaife to build you a custom one.

The U.S. M3 will have the ROW power specs. I think this is just the kick in the pants that Porsche needs to bump both base and S versions 997 up about 25-hp real soon. My 355hp S is nice but still not the white-knuckled hellride-on-demand I had expected at the outset when I bought a year ago.

If the new M3 comes in at $53K base with 411-hp and 310-lb-ft torque-- with sedan version soon to be added-- it will look really good compared to the heavy (3957 lbs.) Audi RS4 at $69K base price with 414-hp, 317-lb-ft. Plus, the Bimmer should be more fun with RWD....Too bad about the dull/ Banglified M3 styling.

Re: New V8 M3 pricing and engine specs

It is really annoying that a 2 doors saloon, from a company with less pedigree, is having the same power as the "top of the sportiness" from the car that is the flagship in the Porsche range and all that for half of the price!!!

At the end we are really paying for the marque more than for the metal!!!

Well, not totally Ed. For the GT3, you're paying for the engine, which is a dry-sump block that costs almost as much as an M3.

It's a car with more depth that rewards the driver who puts the time into it. The M3 is probably faster around a circuit to the novice driver, but the GT3 will definitely give you room to grow.

That being said, the M3 will appear to be a nice bang-for-buck. Hopefully it won't be as ugly as it appears to be heading towards

Yeah, BMW gave the consumer so much value for their money and then shortchanged them on the design which would cost them nothing more to make attractive. It's a shame - the E46 M3 was so attractive (last nice car before Bangle), although the steering was quite numb. Hope the new M3 improves on the steering because the looks are far worse.

Yrs, it's going to be interesting to see what companies like DMS Automotive can do with the 335i. They did a fantastic job on the 996 Turbo, the 535d and the new M5 according to Evo and other magazines.
