No more US 430's with Racing Seats or Heated seats.

From psoters @ 2 other boards:

I may have gotten one of the last cars w/ racing seats. Wonder what they'll do for the 430CS? May have to manufacture a different racing seat for it. Maybe something like in the 599?

Stradale, I doubt there will be a 430 CS. The 430 will be replaced in the later part of 2008. They have orders for the 430 beyond 2010.

I'd say it's more like a later part of 2009.

They had orders for the 360 too well beyond the point they stopped 360 Modena production but they produced a 360CS. And they underestimated it's (CS) popularity........ From what I'm seeing/hearing I really think there will be a 430CS. Maybe not called a Challenge Stradale, perhaps "pista" but there will be a car. I think it will be launced approx. this time/fall 2007 and be delivered to customers from fall 2007 to fall/winter 2008 at which time afterwards the new Coupe model will be out (late 2008,early 2009). The 430 Spider will continue till the next model is launced like the 360 Spider was. Just my humble opinion/guess.

When Ferrari petitioned DOT for the exemption concerning the front passenger airbag, they indicated they planned only to sell 2000 more 430's in the US and the model will be replace in the fall of 2008. Based in part on those representations, they received their exemption.

As a result, the 430 differs from the 360. I find it difficult to believe, given the above facts, they would try to squeeze in a 430 CS.

many were afraid that 430'S wont be allowed to enter the states after sep. loosing those 2 options is still a good compromise

But were those represenations any different than their original plan prior to recieving the waiver? Did they shorten the length of 430 production time and quantity based on the DOT thing? Wasn't the fall 2008 date for the new model their plan all along? If not and they did indeed shorten the production cycle because of the DOT program then I'd probably have to re-think the 430CS possibility but AFAIK they didn't have to modify the quantity of 430's or distance (time) that the car including 430CS is made. That gives them 4 MY's (05,06,07,08) for the 430, maybe even 5 if fall 2008 cars get MY 2009 designations. My point being I don't think the DOT thing has/had anything to do w/ whether they will make a 430CS or not. Except for the racing seat issue, whatever their plans were before DOT is probably the same now regarding a 430CS.

The amount of time they had to produce the 360 Modena & 360CS is not much different than the time they have for the 430 & 430CS, especially considering the speed to market for the next model seems to be getting shorter across the board.

But I guess we'll know for sure in a year or so, maybe sooner.

There may not be a CS for the US market that's all. I'd be surprised if they did considering; current configuration sold out, no racing seats, 2,000 car limit etc. OTOH, the engineering is pretty much complete and they can make more $$ with a CS not too mention it's a tradition. We'll have to see.

Easy to do. They'll take the heavier DOT conforming seat system , add a bit deeper bolstering and two tone alcantara and , voila , a US market " sports " seat for a 430CS, if that model is built.Won't be lighweight carbon shell, but US buyers will line up anyway , so Ferrari doesn't really care.

Saw those today at Pebble Beach in the 599 and they look fantastic. I'm sure that if F is in a pinch that something similiar to this will be the answer.

Power sport seats would be great. Kinda opposite the CS spirit (I'm sure they wouldn't save 40lbs like the current racing seats do) but we'll see. Hopefully.
