    actually the front lights are still disguised on the autocar and automotorsport pictures. i expect them to be bigger and more oval. check this out:

    I would much prefer that the 997 would look like this car

    i don't get this "going back" strategy at all. what's next then? water cooled engines again? probably porsche will deny someday that the 996 existed at all...

    on the other hand, i'm not too concerned because i got a new 996 some months ago and i bet that most people on the street will think that the 996 is the newer car if standing next to a 997.

    going retro is very short sighted and living. look at BMW's Z8, chrysler PT cruiser -- admired today, gone tomorrow.

    I think you are right zzboba, modern cars have larger front lights and the smaller the more outdated it will look.

    Here's a side by side picture with the 996 and the all mighty 997 standing together


    Don't get me wrong, i love the 993, specialy the 4S and turbo, but this is not the rigth move from Porsche, a 997 a la Carrera GT would be the perfect choice, maybe the 998 will give us that. Ok guys lets star asking for that, PAG is reading this board

    From the front it looks more and more like the Volkswagen Beetle.

    I don't like this at all... maybe back in late 98 when they introduced the 996 they could've went with this but now it seems oddly outdated.

    The whole damm thing looks DAMM good to me.



    The back looks atheletic, very muscular.

    It seems like so many of us are so prone to be stuck in the old school not really liking whats new.

    And as far as the camo goes, come on guys, there is hardly any camo at all, just very little around the front headlights, tailights, and a few other minor parts of the car. Im sure your guy's minds will change offical pics come out, whenever that is!!!

    I like this silver color. I think it's Carrera GT Silver may be a new color.

    What's up with the exhaust tips? this is oval a trait for V8 cars and the other pics that was posted I noticed dual pipe tips on each side, any clues?

    If it is Carerra GT silver then I am overwhelmed with excitement!!!!!!

    I think the original twin tailpipes may still be within the mold of the now rectangular shape of the exhaust tip. My X5 is the same way. I'll try and take/ find a pic so I can show if you don't already know?
