997 GT3 Order Guide: Shocks, Discrepancies & Questions!

Just reviewed the new GT3 Order Guide at the local dealership, in anticipation of submitting my order on Monday, (when they say they will have their allocation) and noticed a few glaring discrepancies.

    (1) The GT3 brochure indicates that the SPORT button is standard in the GT3. The Order Guide states that the SPORT button is part of option 640 (Sport Chrono Package).

    (2) Option 78 (Black leather interior) states that the backrest of sport seats are PAINTED BLACK! Could this be true?

    (3) The order guide states that PCM (Option P16) is required to get the Sport Chrono Package (with the Sport Button..no reference to the Sport Button in option 639 - Sport Chrono without PCM). The price of the PCM is $3070 in the GT3 but $2070 in the Carrera. Could this be a typo or just a blatant gouge?

    (4) Adaptive sport seats are a $2295 upgrade from the standard sport seat! Aren't they only $1145 in the Turbo? Another gouge?

Does anyone have the true facts on this stuff? The dealer doesn't seem to know [censored]!

Re: 997 GT3 Order Guide: Shocks, Discrepancies & Questions!

    1. Sport Button is standard.
    2. Yes.
    3. "Sports Chrono" with PCM. "Chrono" without PCM. In both cases you get the whart on the dash. "Sports Chrono" has some more (useless) functions. Lower price in Carrera is because PCM is standard so it's only the Nav part you are paying for.
    4. No clue what the price is of adaptive seats in the Turbo. Wouldn't get them either way for the GT3. They are HEAVY.

JFT, thank you for your informative response. I notice you are in Sweden.. I suppose American cars could be different but no one here seems to know.

Re: 997 GT3 Order Guide: Shocks, Discrepancies & Questions!

As far as I understand the differences in US GT3s are that:
    1. Sunroof is standard (unfortunately)
    2. You get cruise control as standard
    3. You get TPM as standard
    4. You can't get the Carbon (CGT style) buckets due to lack of airbags (US DOT regulations)
    5. And for this reason you can't get the Club Sport option (unfortunately)
    6. But you pay 35% less...

No CS package, so no possibility of a roll cage (the US DOT impact is more damaging for prospective RS buyers, who are paying a lot of money for little return)

Re: 997 GT3 Order Guide: Shocks, Discrepancies & Questions!

You can always get the seats and cage/rollbar aftermarket.

Re: 997 GT3 Order Guide: Shocks, Discrepancies & Questions!

I don't suggest that you compare upgrading things in the GT3 to doing that for the Turbo. The turbo routinely gets a lot tossed in as standard and upgrades are not as much money. Compare it to the Carrera prices.

There is one more thing people are forgetting - Clubsport is advertised as a no-cost option, but when you get into details, it is only available with the carbon bucket seats, which cost you about 3500 euros. In this respect, Porsche is not being honest in its advertising.
Clubsport is for free, but they make you buy the carbon seats if you want it (with the excuse that they could not fit the role cage if you had regular seats in).
That doesn't detract from the fact that the 997 GT3 looks to be the best car in the lineup. I regard it is a junior CGT in a way (looks, performance, essence of Porsche).
