Re: what CDR do you use to store mp3data files..mine not rea
I have not had any problems with Mp3's since I started burning at 8x on cheaper CDR's rather than 40x etc. It does to a degree depend on the CDR's used as some as you know are better quality than others, therefore are able to be burnt at a significantly faster speed.
Try burning at a slower speed in the first instance, perhaps even 4x if the CDR's are particularly poor quality.
I particularly like "Taiyo Yuden" media. They have always been very good for me and have a excellent reputation. They are also cheap enough not to worry about which is a bonus and burn successfully at 40x.

There's a "campaign" (other name for a recall) to upgrade some CD/radios/PCM software in 997 P-cars to software level 2.1 to help with just this problem. Not saying it'll cure yours but give the dealer a call. Sounds like that old adage, never buy/use software that ends in a zero.
Re: what CDR do you use to store mp3data files..mine not rea
I had some problems at first, with skipping and drop offs. Since changing to recording the songs in folders I haven't had a single issue. So it may not be related to the CD-R itself.
Re: what CDR do you use to store mp3data files..mine not rea
what audio quality are you using? I believe too low a quality (ie. below 192 kbps) when you rip the music in order to pack too many files on the disc may cause the skips you talked about.
Re: what CDR do you use to store mp3data files..mine not rea
I used memorex CD-R from Best Buy. No trouble being playback. When burning CD or DVD in highest speed, sometimes it fails in verifying at the end. Using 192kbps in conversion get pretty good sound quality. Sometimes just a little dust/lint on the CD will make after burning verification fails. I always make sure blank disc very clean before insert it into CD drive.
