    BMW "Z29" Unveiled

Finally, BMW has unveiled their mystery "Z29" supercar. This model supposedly weighs just over 2500-pounds and sports the same engine as found in the Z4 M/M3 - boosting it from 0-60 in just 3-seconds. No other details have been released

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

What an ugly POS, I swear I was looking at an Opel when the first picture first loaded..

But I guess it's promising from a performance standpoint

    Re: BMW “Z29" Unveiled

Yeah not the prettiest car. Why build this when they have the Z4 coupe? But I do like the front fascia and the rear, but don't dig the far back cabin and small proportions.

    Re: BMW “Z29" Unveiled

I bet the cabin is situated very far to the rear so they could place the engine more in the middle of the car.

    Re: BMW “Z29" Unveiled

Anyone else think from the front it looks like Darth Vader's helmet?

    Re: BMW “Z29" Unveiled

So what they've done is mate an SLR with a Mustang and washed it at 80 C..

Who released the info, and where can the actual source be found?

    Re: BMW “Z29" Unveiled

BMW are trying to attract new type of clients - masochists.

    Re: BMW “Z29" Unveiled

    it's like a Mazda

It has a Wankel rotary engine?

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

This car probably was just a testbed for the Z4... there is no way that bmw can truly release this ugly piece of [censored] to the public.

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

from the side.. looks like the previous SLK model shape...

    ugly...

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

    this is a joke no?

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

Stop crying here about its looks.

They hit the target for light weight. It has a M3 engine.
The wheels are as close to each corner of the car as possible. The engine is front-mid placed. The hood and front end meet those stupid EU pedestrian impact rules.

I think they did as best they copuld for a front engine
    car considereing todays crash regs.

2500lbs and 300hp is going to embarass alot of 997 posers,
who will only ever see the rear end of this car on a track anyway.

Where BMW missed the boat was in not making it a mid engine Uber Elise coupe.

Has BMW even made anything other than FR? I know its a little naive to say, but i cant think of anything off my head.

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

The M1, the first "M" Car was a midengine coupe. They made 455 of them from 1978 to 1981.

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

    Well... Lamborghini did, anyway.

Correct. Nevertheless was the M1 the one and only real supercar by BMW so far.

There was mid-engined M1 as well as LMP race car.

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

Id' say this might be a future collectible.

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

does anyone think the front kidney grill looks like the old Z1?

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

how much will this puppy cost? Because if it's less than an M3, it could be my next vehicle (provided it isn't as ugly as sin...)

According to Autoblog, it's pegged to go 0-60mph/100kph in only 4.4, top speed only 168mph. And it will probably have I-Drive.

Save your dough for a 911C2 instead.

Or at least get the M3-due out in ?2007.

    Re: BMW "Z29" Unveiled

Yep, I have my money and spot on the new M3 ready.... I am just waiting for it to come out. In the mean time, I may get a 330 though... (twin turbo 300 hp isn't too shaby) especially for only 45k ish.

Before I go 911, I think I'd like to make a pitstop in Cayman lane. If Porsche decides to make a Cayman RS, all the more enticing

For now, law school loans seem to be a more pressing financial concern than future vehicles...
