Please help me out here. I'm asking you because you make a lot of sense.
My friend is going from a 993 turbo to either GT3 or Turbo both 997. The GT3 seems better in most ways but perhaps less relaiable and les comfortable. Is it comfortable enough the GT3? compared to a 993?. I know you were choosing between the two so i'd love your opinion. Also he wont track it very much either. The GT3 just looks nicer imho and looks more exciting. Also whats the price difference once you got optionns on both of them Should we even consider the GT3
The 997 GT3 is a very nice sportscar and I would definetely order it with PCCB because it is a great brake system and has been improved a lot over the past years.
Speaking of emotions, the 997 GT3 is the more appealing car, no doubt about it. The 997 Turbo lacks the certain engine/exhaust sound which is in my opinion needed to create a certain drive feel. I will definetely mention this in our review, I just didn't have time to finish it since I have a real life job, two little kids and I've been on vacation too for the past two weeks. Sorry.
The GT3 should be a pretty reliable car, I don't see any problems here. Regarding ride comfort, I think that PASM has brought a real improvement regarding ride comfort, so no problem here either.
The 997 Turbo is always more expensive compared to the GT3, no matter what options you choose. I paid 155000 Euro for mine, a fully equipped GT3 would have costed me around 125000 Euro, 30000 Euro less. I think this ain't much different in the US.
From a certain point of view, the 997 GT3 is the best value right now in Porsche's model line. Unfortunately Porsche had or still has problems with deliveries, so it may take a while until a larger number of cars make it to customers.
The 997 Turbo is a different beast, the best allround sportscar on this planet but it is not necessarily the perfect Porsche. The lack of a proper engine/exhaust sound is for me as a sportscar addict very frustrating. A part of the fun was enjoying the engine/exhaust sound, now the fun seems to be to enjoy the nice BOSE system. I'm not sure this is what I want.
Anyway: both, the 997 Turbo and the 997 GT3 are a lot of fun to drive, he can't go wrong with his choice, no matter which one he chooses. I would choose the 997 Turbo again if I would get the chance to make my decision again but like I said before, I'm not 100% happy with my 997 Turbo and I'll point out the little flaws in our review, hopefully soon.
