If the tires are N1, that is same compound as RS (but RS has bigger tires).  So, it's over 7 sec. faster than RS with same power, torque, tire compound (but smaller ones), gearing, and less downforce.

Somehow, I think the new motor is a monster (despite same ratings as R and RS).  Having 9k redline will help in itself (higher rpm after an upshift)

Suspension tuning must be very good too...

Actually I think Pirelli and Porsche do those N rating differently depending on sizing.

My 911R came with N0 Cup2s.Standard on GT4 and others. They are the the normal sticky version. Not like the ECO rated N0 in RS sizing for 918.

I believe the new GT3 will have the N1 but these N1 will be more advanced than the RS's N1. As in even stickier.

Oh, good to know.  That seems like a confusing system though.  They should come up with a new N rating when they change the compound (if not a new model name).

I guess since they really only uses 3 sets of sizing, one for the 918/RS, one for the 911s and then one for the GT4, each 'set' gets their own increments.

Interesting they kept to the fully mechanical diff for the manual version.  Interested to read more in how that affects the drive experience.

Same as with GT4 and 911R (but GT3 has more aggressive locking ratios than either)...

I would love to get yellow. But the interior for yellow sucks especially for those of us getting early allocations. I could wait but why would I want to do that? The RS is on the horizon and I have my eye on it but still not sure I will go for it.

The McLaren 720S looks interesting and is priced right. But if I have trouble handling 500hp what am I going to do with 700hp?yes

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Depends how much attention you want on the road and whether you want to put $300k into a weekend car.  GT3 at $150k is a tremendous "value" and allows you to blend in slightly more.  But then, these toys are never rational.

LWB replaced by race seat for this series of runs.  I gather if one is serious about tracking the LWBs are equal to the standard sport seats, equally unsuitable?

LWB's hold you better that sport seats, are height adjustable, allow for 6-point harnesses, and have factory airbags (unlike race seats)

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

LWB are a good dual purpose seat, but for many, the amount of support you get from a real seat is far greater.  Halo for the head is a nice safety feature.  But, besides the lack of an airbag, a full race seat is nearly unusable on the street.

So you have to choose the compromise that works best for you.

Not at all. Porsche GT3s are great cars, but it's just not a coincidence that suddenly every car and every brand is now putting in massive performance gains from minor evolutionary changes. Probably a bigger change in from 991.1 -> 991.2 than there is from 997 -> 991.

Nissan was the first to start this BS and since no one called them for it really, they( other manufacturers) assumed, what the heck, we may just do it as well, claim these crazy numbers and most folks will buy it at face value.

The RS is not confirmed and even if they make it chances are you won't be able to get one unless you are your dealer's favorite client. I don't know about the standard GT3 but the RS strictly for spirited driving on twisty roads and occasional track driving. It's not good at all for a daily driver, it is very unpleasant both in the city and on a highway.

For it's price the standard GT3 is a fantastic product and more honest than the RS. The GT3 RS is way to close to 488 money and I am yet challenged to find a scenario besides track driving when I would chose to go out with the RS over the 488. Of course when you start thinking about the cars as investments it is getting more complicated...
