Wash with water only, every 2 washes out of 3 of the car. Wash with shampoo and soft brush every 6 months. Waterproof with Scotchguard heavy duty water repellent after each shampooing (once roof dry).
Raggtopp rated highly in US, but not available in UK. I tried various other fabric waterproofers (designed for outdoor wear and ctents etc), but found nothign as good as Scotchguard.
Never tried Autoglym roof cleaner and proofer as others have said its not very good.

Is Scotchguard approved for canvas top use? Just hadn't had experience from anyone using it I don't think maybe cos people think of it more in terms of non-auto use? Since you said it was the best, I would give it a shot. Any other waterproofing or conditioning products?

Having had the misfortune to have used Autoglym alloy wheel cleaner on a previous car, which is so acid it ate the wheels, I'd never trust any of their products ever again.
I now use Zymol's range which gives good results.

Aha, someone who uses the BMW stuff - i always wondered whta the impregnator would be like, any comments on its ability to retain water beading on the roof ??
There are lots of scotchguard products about - the normal water repellent doesn't last long, but the heavy duty one (in a turquoise colour can) seems to work well.

That's a real nice picture. My top that has never been conditioned could never bead like that even straight out of the factory. Does the Scotchguard cause the top to deepen in colour? That would be a nice side effect. Let me do a search on it Scotchguard maybe afterall it is better and more value for money than Porsche or BM products. I believe Porsche forces you to buy a full set which costs a fortune.

Actually, getting to alloy cleaners, a friend of mine said he preferred to use SWIPE or water for brake dust cos he felt that what I used was too strong for my alloy. He said most of them were acidic but it wasn't written on my Turtlewax alloy clearners.

Did hear another teammate hear who got paint peeling off the caliper and that would be a disaster if caused by Autoglym
