    Porsche Emblem - Side Decal Enquiry ?

    In July 2006 GT Purely Porsche - I read an article on a 996 GT3 in white p104-106 and has a porsche shield decal on the side like the Ferrari's. Any idea of how I can hold of these decals for the UK please ?

    Check Ebay first !

    If you can't get hold of them there, try you local Signshop
    (signmakers) they will be able to scan the logo in and produce any size decals you require, they could also stick them on for you if required.

    I think stickers are available quite easy. You might even want to contact your P-Dealer, because the GT3 rs had a sticker instead of a true badge, so it might be a porsche OEM part or something like that. Furthermore, the hoodcrests are also available from you P-Delaer, but I don't know if the arc in which they're shaped will fit on the side.

    Check the back of Excellence magazine or any Porsche derived mag. I've seen the emblems for sale there. They typically have either a sticker, or a laquered crest.

    I know you didn't ask for opinions but, are you sure you want to do what Ferrari does?

    To me Ferrari is such an in-your-face car that anything they can do to become more outrageous and flashy is to be expected (in a GOOD way).

    OTOH, sticking more Porsche insignias on my car, where I live and work and drive, would feel a bit overdoing it to me. Something to think about, maybe... .

    I saw a "Midsomer Mystery" on PBS where a funeral director drove a black 911 turbo (UK). It had a badge decal on the side and looked cool as Hell with it. I liked that episode so much I bought the DVD.

    If you really want to put on a decal , I saw them at the dealer today . Up to ~ 4" in size .

    I'd like to see pics, but my first reaction is "what?" -- I guess I'm just worried about "logo overdose". It's on the front end, on all the tire hubs, on the steering wheel...

    And this was an episode of midsomer murders you say? I love that show, but never seen this episode. The crest looks quite nice, better than I expected it to. Don't know whether I would add it though, because it really steals focus.

    It's the pilot for the series and it's THE BEST ONE!
    Full of weird characters.
    It's called "The Killings At Badger's Drift".
    I had to buy a set of 4 or 5 episodes to get this DVD. I was waiting on my P-car to arrive so justified buying 4 or 5 DVDs to get this episode with the black Turbo in it.

    911s do not sport a crest on their sides.

    Another way to look at it:

    Ferrari "needs" the side decal because not everybody knows what they look like. (and of course Ferrari's neeeeed alot of attention).


    Porsche's "911" is so universally known (especially in profile, which is where you want to put the sticker) it's kinda like "Yeah, I get it" to observers if you put one there.
