bluelines:Grant:nberry:FWIW, I plan to use this car it was designed for. I'll take it to the Porsche track in LA occasionally and give it a work out.I didn't realize you can just show up with your own car there.
I believe Nick is referring to the Starbucks in the Porsche Experience Center.
Ouch

Yeah, but was weird to have another reviewer for Top Gear publish his first...

Low curbs then...Explains why he is so adamant against the front lift system.

Starbucks is out. Now it's the bookstore. Yes I know they are archaic like MT but I do like browsing.
Grant you raise an interesting point about the Porsche track. I'll have to check that out. If not their track there are a couple of others in the LA area. I refused to do auto crossing in parking lots.
BTW, why are you all fired up about Chris Harris review? He is one of the worst offenders have sliding around corners.

Yeah, I miss his YouTube channel reviews. Being on the TV show is surely great for him financially, but his frequency of reviews has gone down. I don't read the Top Gear magazine so don't know if he shows up there.

True, but he does slide the best
But honestly, I value his reviews so much since he has a long history with Porsche and other relevant cars and his priorities and values around cars and driving align with mine much more than most reviewers. I guess you could say I agree with him more than any other reviewer, so if he loves a car I feel pretty sure that I will also (and vice versa).

Grant:Yeah, Chris Harris has been conspicuously absent from the reviews. Wonder if he pissed off AP?
I can assure you that Chris Harris has recently driven the new GT3 and had the press 991 R a few weeks ago, so expect there Is a video review in the works. I'm sure it goes without saying that CH has been a bit busy with the new team on Top Gear. As an aside, the BBC have confirmed that the new team will all be back for the next series of Top Gear. Hopefully the next series will include reviews of the new manual GT3, GT2 RS, GT4 RS, etc.

Someone mentioned that Nick's account must've been hacked...... I concur

Agree Chris Harris is one of the best jorno's in the space, would seem to me he has ,also been savvy managing his career and his bank account balance.... one only has to think of the $250m that Amazon is paying the ex Top Gear trio for three seasons to see the blue sky potential here. Having said that, as it relates to the "new" Top Gear and Chris Harris, , I still find the new lineup somehow lacks the authenticity of the old characters of Clarkson, May and Hammond and perhaps the issue is Top Gear seems to be trying to stick with the old format and rather should try harder to do things a little more differently

This is very fishy info. Special tires, special engine, special gearbox etc. Oh, yes, driver is as well Porsche employee. Not very credible at all.
Oh yes, I am sarcastic here. Especially after I realised that 7.29min is time that I could achieve with some training(and PDK-S since with manual I have to admit that 7.29min is a not achievable by me)...

996FourEss:Would be fascinating to see how much of this came from the tires and how much from the rest of the car
If the tires are N1, that is same compound as RS (but RS has bigger tires). So, it's over 7 sec. faster than RS with same power, torque, tire compound (but smaller ones), gearing, and less downforce.
Somehow, I think the new motor is a monster (despite same ratings as R and RS). Having 9k redline will help in itself (higher rpm after an upshift)
Suspension tuning must be very good too...
