    Dr. Phil - First Rennteamer to test 07 Shelby Mustang

    Initial words - "LA has terrible streets but the engine makes this cool vroom vroom sound when you press the gas down."

    Dr. Phil may also be the first Dane to drive one of the
    Shelby Mustangs now being rented by Hetz on the US.

    Don't get this car confused with the Shelby GT500 . The rental car is basically a regular Mustang GT with special paint & badges (and an automatic transmission only). The Shelby GT500 is the big dog.

    Yeah but dont forget it has special exhaust, computer tune, cold air intake, and a special "handling" suspension package.

    And a higher final drive ratio.

    Obvious that no mainstream rental agency would rent
    a 500hp supercharged musytang to the general public.

    But it is lower, quicker, has 35 more hp and is way more precise handling than a standard Mustang V8 GT is.
    Fun is fun.

    The Ford Mustang makes the Corvette feel like a Ferrari.

    Talk about a piece of crap with some HP. Yes it can accelerate... but everything else goes straight in the trash.

    You wouldn't believe how popular it is among the kids here, thanks to all the cultural influence of the internet. My friend and I pulled up in an E55 AMG, but the yellow Mustang (the new one), standing in the parking lot, got all the attention. Next time, when we pulled up in the EVO9, WE got all the attention. Very weird, IMO.

    Had the chance to meet up with Dr. Phil, his very lovely GF, and his Shelby Mustang today: very cool looking car and it sounds GREAT. The good Dr. is way cool too- but of course we already know that.

    Crash the E55 is a old guys car. If you had pulled up in a new silver convertible mustang with a wicked exhaust and some good tunes you would have gotten laid pronto.

    Hey make fun of the car all you want, but having one of these when your 18 is much better than most kids who drive daddy's hand me down family car or some dented up junker. This is/was a youth car, from the day it was marketed.

    I think its a bit strong to call it a piece of crap. A mustang won its class in Grand Am road racing last year. The SRA might not be as good as multi link but does pretty well.

    And have you ever seen video of one on a dyno? Talk about a good sounding engine.
