    Hes very good at that!

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

Actually if you excise all of his gratutious comments, his findings are in line with everyone else. The 997TT is fast as hell but souless.

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

I loved that - a good fun read.

    Thanks for posting it.

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

As a British resident of Germany I can suggest two excellent reasons for a holiday near the Rhine: Race at the NBR and drive at 300 kph+ on unrestricted autobahns. German-bashing, like Jeremy Clarkson, is a littlepassé.Poor Jeremy. Perhaps he would be less grumpy if he could lose some weight.....

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

I think Jeremy trashed just about everybody in that piece, not just the Germans. His criticism of the 997 TT is the same criticism that he's always had for Porsche. He said the same thing in his comparison of the 996 GT3RS and the F360CS, blah blah blah.

He is entertaining though, much in the same way that a curmudgeonly old fart can sometimes be embarrassingly crude, but pretty entertaining.

Hey - I visited Hamburg and thought it was great - I'd vacation in Germany anytime.

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

I for one am glad Clarkson wouldn't ever buy a Porsche. It would devalue them! I think he just feels backed into a corner now on his bigoted views of Porsche given his 2 coworkers May (Boxter) and Hammond (997C2S) on TopGear both have Porsches, as will Jason Plato (997TT) of Fifth Gear soon.

Personally I think he's found his perfect match in his Ford GT. Does 4mpg, breaks down all the time, has to crawl into it when it is parked next to another car in any car park (as it's got a roof on the door), blocks the A4 flyover in West London because it's too wide to fit, and the car alarm goes off all the time for no good reason. I believe he's actually sold and re-bought the car back from the same dealer a fair few times now as a result!!

And did you hear what he said this evening on TopGear when he took it to the big air-show here the other weekend; it's apparently still there as it wouldn't rev passed 600rpm when he tried to go home afterwards! JC's opinion on what cars to buy doesn't exactly hold up much credibility given his own record.

Personally, I had an amazing time in my 997C2S Cab when I went there and back to the same air-show the other weekend

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

You have to understand the guy. He doesn't like porsche but still recognize that it's a better car tha the gallardo and faster than a F430 in real life.

As he said: "You'll note it's the 997, which means it's one newer and one better than the 996. But it isn't one better at all. It's millions better. If I'd made it, I'd have called it the Porsche Jesus Christ Almighty Would You Look At That Bastard Go."

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

JC is a provacateur. He'll say whatever half-truth he can find that will startle, confuse, or outrage the most people. His opinions are inconsistent from week to week. Once I accepted that, and stoped expecting him to be an automotive scientist, I began to find him more amusing than annoying. Some of the Top Gear episodes are the best automotive television I've ever seen.

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

    "Brilliant, efficient, German and dull"

Some people do exactly want such cars, some don't.

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

I thought JC went easy on the TT..

He absolutely smashed the Cayman for 6!!!!

Once again it's all down to preference..

Theres no guessing as to who JC would prefer to be locked in a room with out of Jordan or Heidi Klum...

He'll go for the $lut 10 times out of 10!!!

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

I've been waiting for this one... Reading now

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

no one watch top gear anymore! only women and children watch it and make a lot of complain about the show!! what a waste of time.

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

He makes sense but I totally disagree that the Turbo is souless...

He's Clarkson. He has to say that or else we'd think he was actually making sense .

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

My favorite quote "Even though the 911 is the better car, by hundreds of miles, I'd buy the Gallardo. But then I'm a man who's having two holidays this summer. One in the Isle of Man. And one in Botswana."

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

I find Clarkson"s review honest. I read many articles on cars by just as many writers and I find they just don't tell you want they truly feel about the car, they take no risks . They are either afraid to offend the reader or the car manufacturer...thus, risking advertising dollars, thereby giving readers a middle of the road review, which is what I don't want. Agree or disagree with his review, at least we are getting a true picture of what Clarkson is thinking about after his drive when he puts pen to paper.

For a review to be "honest" and a "true picture", it needs to reflect objective opinions - preferably of someone sufficiently expert on the subject for his assessment to be valid.

Where Clarkson is concerned, I get the impression that he just says or writes the first sensationalist thing which comes into his head just to catch attention, without agonizing about its validity or relevance. Pure entertainment, and not a guide to prospective car buyers. This would also explain why he is supposedly able to write his articles very quickly.

Yes, I quite agree. I love to hear Clarkson's remarks; he is quite amusing. Nonetheless, I think I'd go for the turbo if I had that kind of disposable cash around.

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

Jeremy's comments are always very opinionated but is why we hate or love him... to a long term porsche lover like me, his comment is like someone shuting next to my ear but I still love him for what he is not afraid to speak his own mind.

    Re: Clarkson 997TT review

Come on guys, where's your sense of humour? JC's an excellent writer, no doubt about it. The guy oozes journalistic talent, even though he does like to criticize and to rely on easy clichés like the German-bashing part. But if you take it with a pinch of salt, that review is both very different to the standard kind of "it oversteers by a millimetre when you through it into an opposite-lock 90% turn as the suspension squats by 0.067 mm" motoring review... and very much more entertaining. I love Porsches too but I didn't take JC's review to heart.
