Yeah, your right, not much available in the 19" sizes. The full name is Continental 4X4 Contact. Looking on TireRack I only see a 255/50HR19 with a 103 rating and a 265/50HR19XL with a 110 rating. Nothing with a V speed rating.
Anyone else have any off-road experience in 19" tires?

Now that I've passed the one-year mark and my Cay is no longer "new," it's time for a little off-road fun - as soon as I can decide on some decent 19" tires. I've given up on any N-rated prospects, so I guess I'll have to buy a new set of wheels, including a spare to clog up the cargo bay, with the best non-N 19" mud/snow/street tires I can find, and switch back and forth. If anyone has any suggestions, good experiences, or bad experiences, please pass along.

I'm using the Continental Contact M&S (not Sport Contact) and have been very pleased, and it is N rated in the 18" size. It seems to be a very durable tire and I have used it in some extreme off-road excursions. It was only in the steepest of grades that I have wished I had a more aggressive tread pattern (and a locking rear differential ) for a little extra traction. Even on those steep grades the traction control is very effective if you can keep some momentum going. I've climbed grades that Jeep Wranglers struggled with. And, when you get back on the pavement, you have a relatively quiet highway tire that is rated for 150 mph. So, I'm happy with this tire. It's a compromise, but one I can live with.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I have to have 19"ers to fit over the PK brakes and Conti's website lists some Contacts in 19 that will be available in "summer 2006," but the load/speed rating is only 103H (the 255/15R18s are rated at 109V). However, it also doesn't list this tire as M&S rated, so maybe I'm looking at the wrong tire. It does list the ContiTrac SUV as M&S rated, but it only goes to 17". Am I missing something here? Sorry to all those who find this way off topic. If it goes on long, I'll start a new thread.
