    Buying a 996 GT3 RS or a 997 GT3 ??

    In Australia you can buy a 996 gt3 RS for Approx $230,000 to $240,000 with 5 - 10,000 KM's or you can buy a brand new 997 GT3 for $253,000-.

    Am I MAD for wanting the 996 GT3 RS??

    Car will be used for Track, Hill Climbs, Targa Tasmania.

    So you can buy in Germany for 95.000 EUR (ink. Tax) and
    ship to downunder.

    That would be Australian dollars I believe, not USD.

    No Sir!!

    Our Government wacks on another 46% on the purchase price when the car lands here.

    Do you guys find that the 996 GT3 RS is a similar price to the 997 GT3 and therefore which is a better buy??

    What's the price for you if you take a 997GT3RS?

    Go with the 997GT3. It's a much improved car over the 996 variant of any type.

    The Price difference is about $7500 Euro.

    No. You can get a 996 GT3 RS with less kilometers for under Euro 98000 incl VAT. A new 997 GT3 costs in basic 108000 incl. VAT.

    I think both cars are similar, so i will stay with our GT3RS. But with this low price lag go for the 997 GT3.

    I am going to crunch the Porsche Dealers for the RS..

    If they don't come to the party, I'll have to order a 997 GT3 and enjoy the 6 month wait.

    Owning a 2.7 RS 73' I thought you may have swayed towards not only the nostalgia of the GT3 RS but also the fact that there is not PSM??

    The 997 GT3 does NOT have PSM. It has traction control, but this is not PSM.

    Traction control is available on the Carrera GT and is a welcome addition to the GT3 imo.

    BTW Larry Oootzzzz, if you already have an 04 GT3 Cup car (996), why not get the 997 GT3?

    If i had to get a track car I would definitely go with a 997 GT3 RS however, it was not mentioned in your question.
    As far as the 996 RS, I don't like the front end (subjective) and I believe the chassis of the new one is far more superior in terms of ride and handling, thus my vote for the 997 GT3.

    Now, I've ordered a 997TT not GT3, nor GT3 RS because I don't want a track car as a toy, but rather an all purpose machine. And 73 RS is an icone, the first 911 RS, this car will be more special than any other RS, imo. So I keep it as a jewel and drive it for certain occasion, the turbo will satisfy my other needs, and it will not brake my heart when I'll put her lots of miles on hard driving wether it is a track or a road.

    The Cup is great for the track but I really want to race tarmac rallies such as Targa Tasmania, Mt Buller Hill Climb and the Dutton Rally circuit Australia wide. All events are really growing and all are televised. Unfortunately the Cup car is prevented from entering.

    Regarding the PSM, I meant traction control so were on the same page here.
