two sketches of the F430 successor

I've quickly done two sketches of a possible F430-successor.
It has design elements of the current model-line (599 GTB).
What do you think about it? Will it look similar to this or more progressiv? Tell me what you think.

Re: two sketches of the F430 successor

I like it, you've got quite some talent farina!

Personally, i hope that the F430 successor steps into a more angular direction though -- like a Testarossa for the year 2010.

Re: two sketches of the F430 successor

    1. I think it still looks too much like a 599 - no cues of an engine behind the passengers' compartment. The F430's successor is a mid-engined car, right? So there are 2 possibilities for the rear design : hatch bonnet with glass look (like the 360/430), or flying butress with small, upright rear glass window with louvres/glass on the bonnet (like the 355 or Gallardo). I don't think we will see 599-style 'floating glass compartment'.

    2. I don't think we will see the 599's single rearlights on the F430's successor - I believe it will have a variant of the Enzo-style stacked rearlights - and it will be a pair of double lights instead of single ones.

    3. I think the F430's successor will have more angular lines (as previewed with the F430's rear design and kinda take cues from the 355), so I'd like to say good bye to the bulbous rear wings. Besides, angular shapes suit better with the stacked rear lights (just like how they look so much better on the Enzo than on the F430).

    4. Last but not least, I'd like to see the F430's successor gets a more cab-forward cabin (and a much more steeply raked windscreen), although not as cab-forward or as low as a Lamborghini. It should go well with the aerodynamics, too.

    5. I think we will see a revolution of the 575 Superamerica's revochromico roof - probably in a 2-in-1 bodystyle combining a berlinetta with a spider, with a simple folding/tilting/retracting glasstop (unlike regular complex folding hardtops everyone else is using).

Last but not least, great sketches as usual, Farina. Hope you don't mind my thoughts. Cheers

Well, it should be totally different, since it is a totally new design, sharing only the now new V8 with the F430.

    Yep.

Delivery should be late 2008/early 2009 BTW.

Re: two sketches of the F430 successor

Your guess is as good as anyone's for the successor. These sketches could very well closely represent the next one. Although if it is like your sketches then the car looks like another 360/430 evolution. I'm sure that Pininfarina and Ferrari are tightening up the designs right about now if they aren't already done. Nice work.

Let's hope Ferrari does that with the 599's replacement.

Re: two sketches of the F430 successor

To me it looks like a compact Ferrari A'la 355 priced at an affordable 80k.

Even when there will be a new small Ferrari (and there will be one ), we will never see prices like 80k.

Well, I just try to keep myself informed.

BTW, a friend of mine drove the brandnew 599 yesterday. He said this car is a blast, he never experienced such power before (he drives a F430).
He had the opportunity to encounter a F430 on the autobahn and the 599 really demolished the V8.

    Amazing.

    Rossi, please tell us more
If my memory serves me correctly the latest official statements from Ferrari regarding a kind of Dino-successor has been: there are no such plans Of course plans can be changed
Pricewise I would guess it may be in the 100k - 120k Euro range.

Seems so. Far too many people are reporting the same.

Not so many news, I'm afraid.

You will have heard about the most things: front-engined berlinetta, power output around 400 to 450 hp, price as you said between 110 and 120k Euro.

based on the axed maser coupé?

    "dino" or "ferrari" branding?

Re: two sketches of the F430 successor

The 'Dino/California' was killed when Maserati and Ferrari 'splits'. It was going to share engine/parts with the new Maserati spider (no coupe version as it will be the new small Ferrari), but now is no longer the case..

    IMO it's vice versa.

Maser was intended to help F increase turnover, without increasing the F car production and dilute the exclusivity. In a way, it's the same BMW tried with rover (please forgive me this comparision ).

    Didn't work.

Now Maser is with Alfa, and upcoming Maser models will share parts and platforms with Alfas, sooner or later.
The successor to the Maser Coupé under technical lead from F is axed -- but nearly finished according to rumours.

From a business point of view (not a F collector's point of view of course), it would make sense to launch this finished car, paint it rosso, attach the "Ferrari" badge to it, start production in the Maser plant near F's Modena factory and sell 4,000 - 5,000 units per year for 120.000 EUR.

Re: two sketches of the F430 successor

The car is not axed as it will be launched as the new Maser coupe and spider (with folding hardtop). Mules are already around the factory.

They will have tridents on them instead of prancing horses..

Well at least THIS doesn't look like anything Alfa-based at all

Re: two sketches of the F430 successor

True. I don't know what you mean by your last reply, but I have never said anything about the new Maser coupe/spider being Alfa-based, have I? It's a true Maserati all along. Should the Dino/California exist, it will be a Maserati badged as a Ferrari.
