Good reason not to stop when their police tries to pull you over. 190 km/h on the highway and the car gets confiscated?!

Re: 360 and 993 turbo confiscated in France for speeding

Yeah, I say push that pedal down a little more!

    1. police has guns and choppers if you get my drift, you HAVE to stop
    2. confiscation occured because of the canonball stuff, not because some "regular guy" was speeding

190 kph isn't much...unless your passing the cars on a two lane Autobahn in the middle between both, meaning "endangering" them. Just an example of how 190 kph could lead to a confiscation.

Over here in Bavaria, police has the right to confiscate a car if they don't like what you did (speeding, driving drunk, etc.). You really have to do something VERY stupid for them to do that.

The Canonball runs (the "serious ones") are fun but they're dangerous. A bunch of rich people trying to prove something, no matter if they want to prove it to themselves or the people watching them. It IS dangerous because you can't have a "controlled" environment during such runs, at least not all the time. I understand the need for having fun in cars but the Canonball run is definetely the wrong way to do it, especially since the public AND the authoroties know about it.

Re: 360 and 993 turbo confiscated in France for speeding

If those frogs tried to take one of my cars, I'd run as hard and as fast as I could for the boarder rather than giving the car up!!!

I agree that pumping out those numbers on public roads can be dangerous!! Having stated that, I personally believe that a 993 Turbo sitting on 190 would be more stable that a Ford Mondeo or Saab 95 sitting on 150 km.

How can selling your car be a fair penalty!! What a Joke!!!

Even a CGT can't accelerate faster than gun munition
A friend of mine tried to escape a police check point for some dumb reason and was shot in his back (of course the police officer claimed to have pointed the gun at the tires...). He has been lucky to survive the incident and I'm sure he won't recommend to anybody trying to escape the police....
Must be humiliating to show up at the auction and bid for your own car
Though in Germany the car only may get "secured" by the Police (not confiscated/sold via auction) unless you've comitted a really serious crime using the car (narco dealing, bank robbery etc.).

Yes, I know the police have guns and choppers, but I sincerely doubt they are pullibf me over in order for me to demonstrate my superior Eurocopter piloting skills .
Not sure if it was him, but I think Carlos posted a while back, that he outran the french police, when they attempted to pull him over a few kilometres before the spanish border. Regarding Bavaria, my Valentine has remained well and truly far away from it, ever since you told me about what the police can do if they find it .

Re: 360 and 993 turbo confiscated in France for speeding

Must be a lot different over there. If the police shot a driver (here) without being in fear of imminent serious physical injury, the driver would sue and settle (probably out of court) for a whole bunch of money; enough to BUY all the police cars he wanted.
