    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

    thierry:

    Guys,

i changed my order yesterday to get the "signature lights" from gen 2 ( xenon with 4 leds around the lenses).

i took PDLS as it is including then the black color into the lights. And it looks better with intense black metallic I. E chosen.

but now I m still doubting : would it be better to take the LED ? The full black one, though crazy expensive (2.7k), is looking too much black in my opinion.

but I still doubt ..... any advice ?

Kreso, I know you are fan of black as well, I m interested to get your opinion :-).

but you are obviously all welcomed to tell yours !

    rgds,

You said you hardly drive at night . In that case I would go for the look of the .2 which is also a bonus because you save some cash .  If LED, then I would do the full black .

Kreso  : Was your GT3 flat black ?  Was the problem the dirt ?  I love flat black but only when super clean and polished . As I am not big into car washing I probably should never order that color for my car .....

I think the problem with flat black cars, that you can see every small scratch on it...

Grey or black...silver is just wrong for this car and color. Smiley

Funny also how now that manual is offered again, that  some of these reviews praise the PDK .

And it hides all the shapes of the 911. I'd never go for black on a 911.

For the current GT3, if you have the chance, I'd go for PTS. It helps your car stand out in what will probably be a huge production run, and you can at least spec a color of your liking. The range of standard colors feels really limited to me...

Smiley I guess you are right.... I read "light....er" and wondered why not "brighter" Smiley

LED should be lighter as the they don't need that starter Elco - but, hey, we are probably talking about 200 grams difference Smiley

Not much probably...a few kilogram maybe, at max. In my opinion the LED lights are slightly heavier (control unit) but difference should be under 5 kg, probably much less. Ridiculous.

it just tells u how far the tiretechnology is compared to a couple of years ago - in one of the Reviews they spoke about the latest gen Cup 2 - so I would assume very much tailored to this car

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

the only difference is that Porsche probably will not Claim in SA that it's faster than XXX.....

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

If they use those new tires they had on the GT-R it would make sense why the car suddenly is 2 seconds better than the RS.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Tires are N1 Cup2 (used in RS)

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

They let them set lap times already? I thought it was just press day and no lap times were set.

If 1:34.9 is correct, it shows you how much of the latest cars are just due to tires.

You can bet - in the Sportauto review they point to the Cup2 tires used and indicate that they are good for nothing but a few fast laps on the track. Same as with the AMG GTR test. But then: I like if they use the same tires as on the GTR - at least we can then compare the published lap times again Smiley

Weight difference is identical to .1 for PDK and a few kilos lighter for Manual.

I don't know how he got back there with the roll bars but he did and he is there.

Kreso, Nick I am slowly coming around to the PCCB's but grey wheels always look dirty. On my .1GT3 after every drive I would clean them but they still looked dirty. I suspect that is why they made silver available.

Silver was available on the .1 as well as a no cost.  I like the grey wheels because no need to clean after every drive.  They simply become darker grey with dust.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

There are supposedly ceramic coatings one can apply to wheels that makes brake dust easily wipe away - never tried it...

I had one of the early .1GT3's. I don't recall that silver was available. Had I known I would have certainly ordered them. That's the problem with early allocations. You miss out on some good options like being able to get deviated stitching starting in Nov and PTS in December. I could delay my allocation but none of this is all that important to me since I don't keep cars.Smiley

    They do.... works well

As the other gentlemen pointed out wheels just become darker grey and wipe off very quickly!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

AFAIK silver GT3 wheels first became available on the R. Just platinum /black before that.

I agree. The palette of basic/option colours is dismal. For metallics it's entirely monochromatic aside from Sapphire and Graphite blues. So perfect for CH - don't even need the blues Smiley

The dealer I spoke to reckoned the worldwide RS figure was over 7000, and the need to pay tor VW fines was a factor. Not sure non-RS production will be high though - seems people only want the RS now.
