Question about differences in seat packages

I have read that the "adaptive sport seats" package has a mirror memory feature. Does the "power seat" package also include the mirror memory?

The power seat package lists : "Electrically adjustable seats with driver memory. Includes lumbar adjustment on driver side."

Where as the adaptive sport seats package lists: "Sport seats with electric adjustment for all seat functions, adjustable side bolsters, memory function for seat, and mirrors. Includes lumbar adjustment on driver side. Seatbacks in Volcano Grey."

Would they do that, leave off storing/recalling the mirror locations between the power seat package and adaptive sport seats?

My wife and I have totally different mirror settings although our seat settings are very similar! Go figure!!

    Thanks.

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

Yes, power seat package does have the memory for the mirrors function. The mirror and seat setting is stored according to locations and keys

    Here ya go.

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

The A.S.S. are incredible and do nearly everything.

MMD: Thanks for that excellent chart!

Dan L: But are they $3000 incredible?

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

Can anyone provide information on the different weights for the different seat options? Also any variation in rear and/or front seat legroom? Thanks, James.

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

I have the std seats with the electric option and both of the seats have the lumbar support. I think they are easier to sit in while the adaptives hold you in firmer...

I truly think so. But then, if you are concerned over $3k on a $199K car then maybe you should skip many other options on the car as well, like the PSE, Sport Chrono, and having any leather extras. Then you will be driving something else.

I'm not so concerned over $3000, but rather about paying $3000 for something that isn't well worth the money. I guess that makes me frugal rather than cheap!

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

I can appreciate that. But, they are quite incredible. Try to find all of the seats at a nearby dealership so that you can try before you order.

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

I would also say that they're worth it.

For me, they are a very good comprise between comfortable GT-seats for commuting and racing shells for the track (on the track only 2-3 times a year).

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

What's nice about A.S.s. or regular electric seats is they have a few more adjustments and they're easy to make because they're mostly electric. Long trips and minor easy-to-make adjustments in your position just gives more comfort.

I'm also very curious about this. Today I was at a Porsche dealer in Nederland. There I ask the weight difference between Sports seats and adaptive ones; they didn't know for sure but they guessed adaptives are 7-8.5 kg heavier per seat which brings the total up to 17 kg. My guess is little less than 20kg. Has anyone known the exact difference???

I sit on both seats and evenif adaptive ones hold you little firmer; I still couldn't decide yet. Sports seats are already in very good shape, hold you nicely, cheaper, less complex and lighter for sure but adjustment arm for the height of the seat looks very ugly and out of space in this kind of car. Also adaptives' full electrik adjustment provide more movement on the seat cushion.

    Desicions... desicions...

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

I ordered the sports seats on mine and didn't miss the adaptive seats for a second. Love them!

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

$3000 is a lot of money for Adaptive Sports Seats. I hate the manual seat adjustments especially on a mega-buck priced car. Weight is always a issue on sports cars, but if I went on a diet I think I can cut the weight of the car a lot more than the differnce in the manual sports seats. I bought the Adaptive Sports Seats and really like them, but the regular power seats are just fine. I have used the manual regular seat, the power seat, and the Apadtive Sports Seats. The best buy for a megabuck car is the regular power seats. Alot less than the Adaptive and for all practical situations a very good package. I know it is often said that if you are the only person driving the car then get the manual and set it and forget it. Come on, if you can afford a Porsche at least get power seats. This package has the best resale value. If you love the manual sports seats becuase you are purest, go for it, but from your question you do not sound like a purest sport seat guy. I fiddle with my power seat adjustments for different driving moods. If I was buying again, I would just get the regular power seat, but the more you wait and think, then the more junk you add to the order.

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

I picked the sport seats and I am very happy. They are very supportive and very comfortable.

Since I will be the only regular driver, the memory feature isn't worth it. Also, I was not happy with the placement of the memory buttons at knee level. Since I will be tracking the car, I was afraid of the consequences of bumping the memory button while on the track.

Pretty certain you have to be stopped before the car will accept changes to the seat position w/ a memory location.

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

One thing not mentioned much is the different look of the A.S.S. and the standard seats. I like the former, the standard 997/S seats are from the 996 era. Whatever... .

You're mistaken, the standard 997 seats are NOT "from the 996 era". All variants of the 997 seats-- both standard seats and sport seats-- are completely new from the inside out....resulting in seat comfort as one of the most noticeable improvements in the 911's evolution from 996 to 997.

In my daily driver 997S I find the standard power seats are more comfortable than any other car I have owned, plenty of lateral support. Before buying my car I test drove the Adaptive Sport's, for me personally even in the most open setting I found the Adaptives were less comfortable in the way they felt too narrow in how they hit me in the shoulder blades.

You mis-quoted me. No big deal. I was saying the look of the standard 997 seats is from the 996 era.

Yes, the guts of the 996 and 997 seats are very different.

Re: Question about differences in seat packages

is the sport seat available for retrofit?? just wondering..

Re: Question about differences in seat packages
