PAA is active aerodynamics in it's most basic angry form but it seems that Porsche helped with the Huracan Performante's new ALA system, so we are going to see something similar from Porsche as well at some point. Latest when Porsche completely (they already started...) takes over sportscar development in the VW Group (with their new platform).

You forgot the " Smiley " Smiley . The R8 and it's brother Huracan have been developed by Audi/Lamborghini, not Porsche. Porsche just got recently involved with sportscar development in the VW Group and their new sportscar platform is not compatible with the R8/Huracan platform.

No but next gen could get it, together with the Huracan and Aventador. Smiley All three models will be based on the same (Porsche) platform.

Facelift gets rear wheel steering as far as I heard but it is not 100% clear yet (no official info available).

If Audi gets enough money to make another R8...this is still unknown. Right now, only the Huracan and the "960" seem to have green lights in the future model planning, the next gen R8 has still a question mark behind it. We are probably going to know about it after Audi introduces the 2.9 l Biturbo V6 in the R8 and after the facelift. If the lower price and the slightly different design doesn't sell this car, the future of the R8 will be very questionable.

The 991.2 Turbo S has active aero and rear wheel steering. Just imagine both coming to the Huracan/R8... An amazing performance would be possible. Let's see how the Huracan Performante will perform...many are still skeptical about the ALA performance.

So far, the R8/Huracan are pretty "analogue" cars with n/a engines, a rare breed and probably the last ones of their kind. Sad.

This is really a shame indeed but it seems that smaller displacement V6 Biturbo engines are a thing of the future... Look at that Ferrari 588M/Dino rumor...

The new 2.9 l V6 Biturbo from Audi/Porsche will make it into a couple of VAG cars, saves tons of money. Smiley

Interesting: I already drove the new RS5 with this engine and it feels so powerful...really impressive. Drove the "old" V8 in comparison and while I liked the sound better (the RS5 had that typical loud "farting"... Smiley ), I have to admit that the new RS5 felt almost double as powerful as the old one. Amazing what huge torque figures can do to perception. The V8 felt sluggish. Smiley Most regular customers will like the new RS5 more than the old one I'm afraid.

For the moment every mule we have seen had those very wide front fenders and every article mentions the car being wider . Also , there has never been too many surprises with Porsche . The mules we see is what we get . It has been the case for the last 10 years .

The next R8 will probably be a Audi badged 911 Smiley

911s are fundamentally designed to look soft and boring, so that's not really saying much. That mule just looks like a beat up 991 IMO. Nothing inherently more aggressive about it.

The "hard" and "exciting" version of the 911 is the R8.

Latest parts bin rumor is entry-level 911T with lightweight C2 chassis, a little less power than C2 with same 3.0L motor, manual gearbox, lower price.

Last 911T (Touring) was 1973 model year...

I'd like to see 6spd manual from GT3 (ratios would actually work with lower power and lower redline), narrower 18" wheels, cloth seats, and about 350hp for $80k (C2 is $91k). Add some retro colors like Signal Yellow, Aubergine, Irish Green, etc...

I think the whole point is to offer a model costing less than C2 (hence the power reduction). I don't expect much weight loss and any that there is will come from cheap parts (smaller wheels/tires/brakes, cloth seats, manual gearbox, etc.)

Porsche is trying to push the enveloppe price of 911 up, it would;d make no sense to come out with a simpler less hp car for a lower price. There is the Cayman for that.

Makes sense when you are towards the end of the life cycle and you want to try maintain sales at the end before the new gen comes out. It's a common practice.
