I wouldn't mind, though. I wonder how 950 horsepowr would be transferred to the ground via RWD ?

Re: Good bye Carerra GT hello 950HP replacement

    Sweet!

Re: Good bye Carerra GT hello 950HP replacement

Porsche needs to lose the side mirrors and incorporate a wide, rear view camera similar to the Ferrari FXX replacement for the Enzo. The design is great, but losing the mirrors would clean up the lines of the car.

Re: Good bye Carerra GT hello 950HP replacement

illustrator sure didnt spend much time on that!

Re: Good bye Carerra GT hello 950HP replacement

I still be cautious about Porsche already building a new hipercar like this.... and this pictures are nothing more than a CGT with a Ferrari like front bonnet... When do the people will understand that a Porsche is not a copy of Ferrari scoops and bonnets.... and other elements?

Re: Good bye Carerra GT hello 950HP replacement

    thats the gemballa concept right?

    Porsche Plans 950hp Bugatti-Buster
    Written by: Autocar staff
    London, UK - 7/6/2006

Carrera GT-based car is expected to target 254mph top speed. (Jerry Chung/Autocar illustration)

Porsche is poised to burst Bugatti's bubble when it rolls out the fastest road car in the world in 2009 - and Autocar magazine has revealed how it expects it to look.

This radical supercar is expected to be dubbed GT1, and will be a 950hp, road-legal version of Porsche's future Le Mans challenger. According to insiders, the target top speed is 254mph - a crucial 2mph faster than the claimed top speed of the 987hp Bugatti Veyron.

The core of the new car is the Carrera GT's carbon fiber chassis, fitted with modified nose and tail structures. The interior is also based closely on the Carrera's distinctive dashboard and center console.

Autocar's exclusive illustration is drawn entirely from leaked official technical drawings of the car. Sources have also revealed that full-bore 950hp engines are under test, as well as work on weight distribution and aerodynamics, both of which will differ from the competition versions of the car.

One thing that's not clear at this stage is how the massive slug of power will be delivered. One suggestion is that it would have to come from a turbocharged version of the Carrera GT's V10 engine. However, other motorsport sources say it will be powered by an enlarged, twin-turbo, 5.5-liter version of the Cayenne's V8.

In fact, Porsche is already racing a 600hp, normally aspirated V8 engine in the American Le Mans series with the Penske-prepared RS Spyder, and it's expected to be adopted by Porsche's own European Le Mans racer. However, Le Mans racers will switch to the closed-coupe format from 2010.

Ready by 2009? Maybe by then the dealers will have finished selling their inventories of the CGT

A local dealer still has 3 on hand that were in his inventory since last fall. Ouch!

There won't be a streetlegal replacement for the Carrera GT with 950 HP, this is pure BS.

to clarify this post, i meant dealers would sell the remaining stock of cgt's by the end of 2006.
i did not mean that the alleged replacement would be out by then.

Re: Good bye Carerra GT hello 950HP replacement

This car gives me a bad feeling. Doesnt the Veyron also have a 254 mph top speed? Sounds like Porsche is collaborating with VW. Also, it sound like a half-assed effort, just to put some turbos on the CGT engine and give it a roof.

a good reason why the story makes absolutely no sense.
they would be going into competition with themselves.
they may as well just take a veyron make a few improvements, drop some weight, and slap on some porsche badges!

I believe this provides an explanation. A porsche tuner.

Re: Good bye Carerra GT hello 950HP replacement

    good find nick!

maybe evo finally got the story straight that it is a 9ff tuner and not a porsche original all this talk is about.
someone had suggested that before but that wasn't how the autocar story stated the facts.
seems like porsche would have put out a statement after all the misinformation reported in the press.
