The exhaust temps are only a concern at the exhaust valve and port, the turbine and at downpipe. I don't understand all this contrived concern about exhaust temps. 1600 F will kill any catalytic converter out there. If that kind of heat gets anywhere near the mufflers it will blister the paint, instantly discolor the exhaust tips and melt the surrounds. Decreasing backpressure will only DECREASE exhaust temps.
