    SportCarGroup:

Black rims are a MUST with yellow exterior IMO

I disagree, but if someone who wasn't sure wanted to experiment with that they could buy in Silver (free) and then try Black Plastidip which is removable and inexpensive...

Just received the call. The dealership is giving me their first allocation. It's a July build, September delivery.kiss

Regarding black wheels on yellow, I just think its too quaint and contrived. Everyone does it and to me it looks tricked up. And as Grant says, I can always paint them but I very much doubt I would do that.

You can't go wrong with black wheels on a sportscar but silver wheels don't fit yellow at all in my opinion. Actually yellow, black, red and white are must have black wheels colors. Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

    Nick,

When you're running 110 up the 101 north of LA  or past Pendleton - or 135 up the 15 in NV or UT - yellow is pretty obvious, hence Sun's love of Silver......  But at Starbucks as pointed out it's a plus.

    Cheers

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I would do grey wheels, not black or silver...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I got tired of the racing yellow on my GT3 very quickly.  I ended up with yellow because the PTS was cancelled.  In any case the silver wheels with yellow is a faux pas. If black is too ordinary go with platinum for sure. FWIW the Miami blue is more interesting and appealing than racing yellow.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Black wheels are passé on Porsche's or any car. I will stick wilth silver and keep an open mind. my big question is whether to order ceramic brakes. They certainly look better but are they worth the cost? I could have the calipers painted to match the exterior  for about $600. Should I get them? My SA is arranging for me to test drive a Turbo S that has ceramics.

Nick, the dealer is Porsche of San Diego. When the sales manager called me he said, "Nick, most dealers are selling this car for $40,000 to $50,000 over MSRP. We are selling it to you for sticker." Fwiw, they quit taking deposits long ago. They did not ask me for a deposit.

This is what a good relationship with a dealer gets you. kiss

Did you have ceramics on your last GT3? If not, did you miss anything? There is your answer. For me personally they are a must and worth every penny.

I value your opinion. Why are they a must?Smiley

To answer your question, I can't say I missed anything on the GT3 but I didn't have anything to compare it to. I always thought standard Porsche brakes were excellent.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Awesome Nick!  So wish I knew who at my dealership I must orally gratify for an allocation. I would highly recommend the PCCB!  It would even make the silver wheels look more classy and business like. I think painting the calipers would be a bigger mistake than ... (political sensor). Lol.   Painting them would be silly at best at any cost. You will love the PCCB, less unsprung weight and less brake dust for the silver wheels. The pads will last forever for most applications. Mine had 170k miles with 50% left.

Sincerely wish you well with it and congratulations!  If you don't keep it I want it!!!  Nice spec.

Porsche white is very classy. it also suits the GT3. Silver wheels will look terrific on the car. Metallic white is a great color but you must ask yourself is it for a race car like the GT3 or a sedan.Smiley

IN short it is brake feel and precision of braking . The reduction in weight and lack of brake dust are bonuses too.

The car does not need PCCB . If you are fine spending the money on them you will be very happy with them . If not, you will be very happy having the standard brakes .

People who track their GT3 's stick to the standard brakes ( for cost and maintain reasons ) , that tells you have good they are .

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

The ceramics are lovely to have (specced them on my Boxster) but worried a bit about track longevity on the GT3 so stuck to the standard ones.  No complaints about performance, but if money was no object I'd have got the PCCBs The 12k cost here was simply way too much for my wallet.

A caliper repaint was out of the question for me, and with that, out went yellow as a potential colour choice:  Yellow paint and red calipers would have been too much Ronald McDonald!  Yellow with PCCB would certainly look great.  I'd have it with gunmetal wheels FWIW.. (annoyingly now a cost option).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Sounds like shitty dealers and a first on the block premium. As the poster above just said, many dealerships will do MSRP all day, though you may not get the first US delivered car.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Did this 170k miles include any track time ?  I had heard that 1 or 2 track days will necessitate a full PCCB brake pad replacement at Great expense.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

i love the PCCB's on the Gt3rs. absolute confidence and great feel. i have no brake squeal, contrary to the 458 i have owned before. but i cannot compare directly to the standard porsche steel brakes which supposedly are very good as well.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

White wheels are classic on any color.  Platinum is a good compromise.

Silver wheels will show a lot more brake dust, some people get PCCB just for that reason.  I track my cars, so PCCB is a no go.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

The good thing about being passé is not being among the trendsetters who define it.
