I agree, this would be excellent news! I thought that x50 should be available sometime next spring. However, fall 2006 would be even better (although that would complicate my decision making process a bit - GT2 vs 997TTx50).

Here are the unconfirmed info from Stuttgart:
-it seems that power kit will be release before. September? Maybe!
-520hp? Again this is not definitive number but, no more then 520hp!
-NO overboost since it will use 3.8L, more torque in wider rpm range
-317km/h(maybe 320km/h, we will see)
-SAME performance manual/TIP!!
-very expensive, read more then 15000Euro...
-NOT retrofitting!

wow..good news..
But,now that i know that the rumored price is near that(15.000 Euro)and also if is less..i'm sure it will be not under 10.000 Euro,i can tell for sure that i'm not interested in the powerkit
,i think that i will be happy also with only 480HP..

That would be interesting news.
Might be consistent with RC's reports about a permanent overboost on Tip cars, however: Is the better straightline performance of Tip the outcome of different overboost characteristics as compared to manual? If so, this would be inconsistent with official power figures, charts and statements?
Unlikely though, as such marketing strategy would be illegal
Somebody please shed some light on this (I actually thought of RC
)...

If x50 top-speed is higher than 310kph I assume that x50 comes together with a different gearing. Thus, x50 cars will have a different gear-box which would make a retrofit impossible/excessively expensive. Same situation as with 996TT/TTS.

Let's clear up few things, 3.8L is not new engine!
Current 3.6L 997 Turbo engine-3600cc, 100.00mm bore, 76.4mm stroke
Potential X50 engine 3.8L-3795cc, 102.7mm bore, 76.4mm stroke
You see, the only difference is bigger bore. Same VTGs, more power and torque(wider peak torque range with NO overboost).
Current 3.6L 997 Turbo engine-3600cc, 100.00mm bore, 76.4mm stroke
