Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

This seems to be a very special event! Thanks for the great report!

Too bad we do not have any ovals near here!

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

    Polo,
Very nice read, and the pics are stunning... I should go to France again for holidays! I don't know which car I love more, your RS 2.7 or the 997tt...

    Thanks for sharing!!

    great experience!

    ciao

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

Wow, great pics. Thanks very much for sharing.

However, I must say that I like your RS as much as the new TT.

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

Thanks very much, Polo. The pictures are great....both of the new tt and your rs! What fun to compare. It was a nice idea to have the skidpad to demonstrate the electronics in the new tt!

    Thanks again for sharing.

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

Wow, the upgrade from a 2.7 RS to a 997 Turbo is huge, you surely took a challenge. Judging by the pictures, you must have had a great time, thanks for sharing.

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

    Very nice, congrats!

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

    Polo,
    Very nice report!
Meteor Grey looks excellent, I am starting to think about it...

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

Merci Polo ! Exellent ! Ta RS est magnifique.

I love the pics when the car is on the bank .
You seem to have had a great time.

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

    WoW, Thanx 4 sharing Polo

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

    nice report and pics!thanks

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

Great report and pics! Am sure you had a great day out! Cheers!

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

Sounds like a great day out and some excellent pictures. Having lived in Europe for many years, I do find it a real shame that the US Porsche dealers dont seem to do anything for their loyal customers - living in the UK I had plenty of Porsche track events and VIP outings, as well as an all expenses paid trip to the factory and surrounding area for 2 days driving the 993 when it was launched. In the US, I went to the local dealers 997TT launch party last week - a very sad event, and quite damaging to the brand I'd say having it in the dealerships attached "Chevy" franchise building but there you go....

Glad you had a great day out

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

Flashman, I have a manufacturing facility in Taylorsville, NC. Are you anywhere near there?

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

    thanks for the great pictures!

Ovals are nice to test high speed stability.
I haven't driven on it, however I suspect that after few laps it becomes boring.
A regular track with a long straight should be more fun.

Ovals gives a nice senstion of g-force and speed.

    Thx..

France is a nice country to spend money...If you ever go there maybe we could meet.

I don't know which one I prefer too cause they are so different -- each one has its qualities and default.
But the 2.7 is a collector, its value increases...This car is emotional -- I just take it out for special occasions. To remember what it feels like to drive a raw car with no aids what so ever...You need to be real concentrate when you want to drive her in a spirited way in small wet winding road!

Anytime I drive it, I'm amazed because when you drive it it doesn't feel like a 30y old car (amazingly). It drives good and she wants you to push her!
The turbo will not be my daily commuter and will NOT replace the 2.7 RS, but it is also nice to live in modern time to enjoy comfort, more precise hanling, tons of power...

The event was great, unfortunately I didn't had much driving time. However it was compensate by the work shop that were very demonstrative.

It was fun to realize that it would have been imposible to do some work shop with the old one because no electronics on the car.

The jump is indeed huge and I like challenges, I'be able to experienced this jump as much as I want .

I need to learn to drive such a fast car wtih few porsche driving school, but i'm sure it will come very quick especially with all electronics on board. The harder will be to respect the speed limit .

Merci beaucoup pour la RS -- c'était un plaisir que de faire partager ce moment avec Rennteam. (...It was a pleasure to share this moment...for non french speakers)
I did have a great time! With both cars

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

Thanks very much Polo. Great pictures but I thought the Meteor grey is not available until August?

    You're welcome!

I thought so too, however this is meteor gray there is no doubt about it. Meteor gray looks nice I'm going with it!
I'm lucky, the color will be just ready for my prod. slot

    Great stuff, thanks.

Any idea how the Meteor compares with the old Seal Grey?

The pictures look great, but all cameras are different so I trust you more than the pictures! I'm seriously considering Meteor, but all I've seen are swatches. I know it's lighter than Slate (w/o the brown, more a true grey) but darker than Silver. Anything else (particularly vs. old Seal color) would be really appreciated.

    Thanks.

Sorry to bug you, but do you know which color is third from the top (kind of a dark blue / grey)?

First of all you're absolutely not bugging me

As far as the color is concerned I think is was midnight blue. I personnally didn't like this color on the turbo - I found it too dark and not enough deep in the same time - I know pretty confusing...The color was not enough mettallic, was not bright enough. For some reason basalt look so much better, maybe because it felt more "glossy" and more mettallic.

    Hope that helps

Firts I want to say that meteor does look real good and combines that with 2-tone interior black stone grey --> you get a very classy combo.

This combo is the one I've chosen -- very nice, discreet, classy match very well with the exterior.

Seal grey is beautiful, however, as meteor is pretty close with it I don't want to pay the extra cost for it.
Meteor is lighter. It feels less greeny/brownish, hence lighter -- It is closer from a regular grey. I believe it also more mettallic.

To be honest, I like both color, as I was considering to pay the extra cost to get seal grey until I aw in person meteor. However, if didn't had to pay exra for seal grey I might consider it with meteor.

    Hope that helps.

Re: Back to the present review + pics inside

I forgot to mentioned that the rendition of the picture is pretty good compare to it in real life. Plus I used a SLR digital camera that is generally way better than most point and shoot ones.
The picture might be just a tad over exposed but it is pretty close from what it is.
