    PASM and new 3.4 Boxster S

    Hi,

    I read on a french Porsche magazine that PASM will not be an option anymore for Boxster S only ???
    I wonder if it is an error from the magazine writer...

    I recently ordered an 07 987S. I ordered it with PASM. The dealer did not indicate any problem with ordering it, however they don't have the order guide yet.

    The 07 Cayman base preliminary order guide is available and it does show PASM as an option.

    I can't imagine Porsche removing it as an option for the 07 Boxster S.

    When i said: not an option anymore, i wanted to say that PASM was installed by default in the Boxster S version only;
    Thus it is not an option anymore...

    Can somebody confirm that in the S version, PASM is an option or installed by default ?

    now that would be nice... but with the marginal price increase in base price i dont see that happening... hopefully its the same in the US though...

    And when you add in that TPMS is now standard, it is even less likely that PASM is included with the relatively small price increase.

    Hi Canari,

    pleased to meet you here.
    I recently received the Belgian pricelist for my 07 and the PASM is not standard on any Boxster (normal/S).

    It is probably one more error of the magazine ...

    Is that the Tire Pressure Monitoring Systeme ? It's not included in the base price here in france. That's not a bad thing either, as this system, as I understand it, forces you to get your tires changed by an official Porsche center , or at least a PIWIS equiped independent.

    I'm not sure this is the case based on what I have seen and read. The small sensor/transmitter is attached to the valve stem. Not sure why tire couldn't be changed by anyone.

    The tramsmitter "talks" to a receiver near the wheel which is connected to the computer. I believe the sensors register automatically and are not specifically designated for a particular wheel.

    From what I've heard, the onboard diagnostic computer has to be reset each time a tire is changed. Besides, you have to use specific valves, I'm not sure generic tire shops will have them handy ...

    I don't think it's true. I bet the magazine in question starts with "RS"...
