When you put the cars side be side the things get interesting, if the 997TT was in black I think it would be a better comparison . I must say as much as I love the 430 it almost looks dated compared to the Porsche . Considering the price difference and that there are no waiting games and that the 997TT has more performance this is quite an accomplishment for Porsche . I am sure the replacement for the 430 will be very nice but for now a car that is 50K less in some ways is a more desirable car .

In terms of which car looks better any person's opinion is valid, but the F430 looks dated? I think the black makes it look as about as modern and amazing as possible, but that's not even what I find odd.
It's the whole next to a 911? Sure the F430 does look like a 360 that went to the gym for a few years, but as cool as the new Turbo looks it looks as close to 911s built 20 or 30 years ago as the F430 does to the 360. The 997 Turbo looks very much like the 996 and while many think it looks better much of that comes from direct visual cues from older 911s.
I'm not saying that is a bad thing, but personally I don't think the 911 is quite that timeless. I can't argue performance or value as there is nothing to argue, but I don't think the F430 looks dated at all, particularly in that pic.

Either you are losing your eye sight or your trying to justify the purchase of the 997TT. On the street, if you put both cars side by side ,the 997TT would figuratively disappear. It is noT even close.
Porsche's are designed to look dated because Porsche wants it that way. They are so intent on doing so they have all their models look alike (excepting the CGT which is a good looking car).
Yesterday, I saw what appeared to be a Boxster closing fast behind me. It had the front bumper air and side air ducts.
I was in my 430 Spider and wondered why the Boxster was apparently chasing me. Lo and behold as he went past me, I saw the silly tail on the back with the Turbo script.
I am a car enthusiast and for me to confuse a $150,000 convertible with a $45,000 one of the same brand only served to confirm what I have known all along. PORSCHE MEANS VANILLA!

Either you are losing your eye sight or your trying to justify the purchase of the 997TT. On the street, if you put both cars side by side ,the 997TT would figuratively disappear. It is noT even close.

. The 430 DOES look dated to me (the Gallardo seems much more modern) and the 911 is, well, a 911. In the most fashionable iteration yet. The 430 can't compare to it.

Hate the F430 or love it I don't see how it looks dated. It's not as sharp as the Gallardo, but it's a lot edgier then the 360.
Side by side it's pretty obvious which car was developed in the last decade and which one has been around for a long time.
Even ignoring any past cars the F430 looks sporty and muscular in a curvy way, oddly enough the turbo could be described in the same way, but show the pic to your average kid or even adult and I guarantee they'll pic the F430 as the modern sportscar.
Of course everything is plastic these days and the Turbo does look like someone glued plastic pieces on. If that's what you meant then maybe you are right.

I'm sorry to hear you're still having build quality problems with your F430.
The pindropping sound you heard must have been your odometer needle falling off the dial.
Don't worry. It's a common thing that happens a lot to cars that are mostly for show and garage storage and never actually get driven hard.
Things corrode, rust or get dusty.
Just sell it off quickly and get another one. and with the profit you make you can probably afford one that has been actually painted, and not just been given primer yellow.

well, we all seem to have our viewpoints but whereas the F430 is definitely the exotic, with the bells and whistles, the tt is more the functional tool. brings an interesting question, what do you guys think of the Gallardo?...seems to lie in the middle of the two, with exotic looks and sounds but the dependability of Audi and all-wheel drive!
