    This statement of yours makes no sense. When any turbo car under load undergoes a gear change, the recirculating valve (blow-off valve) dumps the pressurized intake charge back upstream of the turbo compressor to help build spool back up. It has nothing to do with the type of transmission.

    The tip/autos on a turbo car have the advantage of a torque converter which will basically store energy the way a flywheel does during shift changes, and allow enough slip/stall to get the motor into the torque band more rapidly.

    This is not related to the gearbox, it's related to porsche profit.

    Couldn't the use of double clutching during upshifts "pre-boost" the turbos?

    No, because blipping the throttle in neutral (or with the clutch pressed while in gear) does not put the engine under any load, so there is virtually no exhaust flow...

    Really. The engine doesn't need to move anything but its parts, so the load is negligible.

    So then how does the tiptronic preboost the engine between shifts if there is negligible load? Does it have to do with the torque converter?
