    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

I think people should buy whatever model suits them if they think the price is ok, forget what another model they dont want costs.

I also think people should be happy with what they have, there's always going to be times when a facelift/upgrade/newmodel makes your porsche a little 'older', thats life.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

    as I told you........

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

I seriously still am very puzzled at how PAG can justify this one. Obviously, sales if I had to predict would be down for the CAYMAN S and or at least SLIGHTLY negatively affected. If anything, I couldn't imagine this BOXSTER EVOVLES news to be POSITIVELY affecting the sales of cayman s by bumping it up. I mean really to be honest, I would go into the showroom and say to myself, so... they have the same engine and same setup and I am being charged more for a NONFOLDABLE metal roof? I mean it just doesn't make sense from a buyer's POV. Then again of course, Porsche can do anything and people would still put down their $$$ for it. I am now more interested to see how the new 987s would run against a 997 base considering that many had claimed that cayman s was doing so well against a base 997 but I would imagine Porsche fuding again the number to make it just a little bit inferior on lap times compared to the cayman s and saying how the Cayman S would be stiffer chassis wise and you would be paying for that... it's all another marketing scheme.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

All of this 295hp Boxster angst just reinforces Porsches theory that they are their own competition.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

just slapping itself in the face with all this "oh how the cayman was built from scratch and different from the boxster"... and now must explain to us "well guess what? Jeremy Clarkson was right it was just a coxster" and in fact a Boxster Coupe but soon we will debut a 310 hp BOXSTER CABRIO based on the boxster and it will debut alongside in 2010 with the cayman cabrio.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

As long as Porsche don't name them Coxster So when will they get the same name? Which?

Also, does anyone know August 2006 meaning August 2006 production (delivery in November year end?) or lineup being delivered in August 2006?

Well I'll take delivery of mine between July 14th and the end of July. From what I've heard I understand that Porsche dealers are trying to keep this under the radar, maybe following instructions from Porsche AG.

    Which means, I suspect you'll get a 3.2.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

I was assured I would get a 3.4 when I first spoke to my dealer about getting a new Boxster S. That was late April. At the time he asked me to remain discreet about this matter.

He's an independant specialist who's got a privilegied relation with an official Porsche Center. We've become friends so I guess he's done it as a favor to me. I'll probably get one of the first 3.4 enabled 987S

One more month to wait ... Patience is of the essence ...

Let's hope it for you Wat,
AND if something might go wrong (MY07 "normally" begins with AUGUST production), i really hope that you have this promise ON PAPER !!
If your car is built in Finland (approx 2 weeks for transport I guess) than it will be an end June or beginning July built, again "normally" not MY07 but end MY06 !!
MAYBE they will delay production of your car , or MAYBE they WILL indeed squeeze in THE FIRST 3.4 L

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

The invoice clearly mentioned "MY07". Anyway, time will tell.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

    Freak 2-

There is no production in August. The factory closes down.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

Wat, my 2 cents for you is that never trust the sales professional. Get the term sheet and have him put the 3.4L BLACK AND WHITE on. Otherwise, you might just regret it. When you pay so much for a Porsche, you expect everything in black and white and there can be no margin of error. It's your right. Demand him to not only "ASSURE YOU" but "GUARANTEE YOU" My suspicion is that it is going to be a 3.2 L if your order happened in April. It is indeed end of manufacturing year 2006 and my dealer told me that the first shipment for HK would arrive November 2006 for the 3.4L so anything being produced and ordered now for mid summer delivery would still be 3.2L.

The factory closes for 3 weeks in August, SO "Officially" MY 07 starts with the last week of August (according to my dealer).
Some say that the last production week in July, just before the holliday shut down is also NEW MY

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

Called my dealer in HK. Confirmed that the first shipment to the far east over here will NOT arrive before November 2006. Afterall, if I really did wait for the 3.4 L I would have to do it in 2007 March.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

I can fully understand everyone not willing to order an actual Boxster now as the press release is confirming the changes of the car. And I can fully understand the disappointment of all who are just receiving their cars as the news of the new model floats around. Me too I am a bit disappointed in owning my first Porsche for a year now more or less letting the car resting in the garage to not drive too many kilometers with it.
But - Porsche stays Porsche : Boxster stays Boxster : And S remains S.
Who wouldn't envy you owning a 1973 RS? Every Porsche is a work of art of its own. And the steps forward are necessary to keep up the myth. Although you could ask the questions where it all will lead? 5.8 L 911 and 5.4 liter Cayman/Boxster?
As the news about the engine upgrade is in every Boxster enthusiast's mouth the subject will change in a few weeks. But this does not harm the satisfaction your car offers to you in any way. Think about your car as the vehicle built by Porsche especially for you. Some kind of unique machine matching your desires.
The depreciation might be a subject when you plan to sell your new 987 in one years time. But on a larger scale - Porsche still is the brand with almost the least depreciation (Smart is strong in this as well........). A business partner of mine just bought an 8 year old BMW Z3 M roadster. He paid around 20K swiss francs (in fact he paid 10K in cash and 15K in WIR money - but please don't ask for details about this rather special Swiss shadow-currency.....). Fact is that I have never seen even a 10 year old 2.5 liter 204 HP Boxster for less than 20K Swiss francs. And be honest - seeing a 10 year old Boxster does not give you the feeling of staring at an old car.
So enjoy your car and don't be angry at Porsche to constantly upgrade the model line. We drive these cars because of the whole package of design, setup, power. The concept is fulfilled with all the models they release. So let them roar regardless of displacement, size of wheels and color of the brakes. It all comes down just to the reason we spend time in this forum - because for us there is no substitute to Porsche.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

Has MY07 USA pricing been announced?

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

    $55.5K

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

Nightshade_one very well said very well said. In fact, your statement is one which I feel would provide lots of relief to those temporarily puzzled by this news. However, you are right. It will pass in another week or two and everybody will still enjoy their cars be it Cayman or Boxster. A Porsche is a Porsche and we are all part of the THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE family.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

Nightshade_one, finally I must thank you for your comments. In fact, last night, sleepless, I went down to the garage, took a look at my 987s and everytime I looked at it, I still couldn't resist saying "it's beautiful". As a first time Porsche owner, I must say that I have owned BMW and Mercedes but they never gave me those feelings of "never growing old and never growing out..." The Porsche look is the Porsche look... it's always like "it's not the prettiest and some would even say WEIRD (beauty of course is in the eye of the beholder) but it defines a legacy and in my mind what a true sports car should look like" A year ago I had the SLK and I fell in love with the look of it at first sight but I grew totally out of its look in a few weeks but my 987s made me stick. I know I can never go back to another brand and it is my brand. Different folks different strokes. I always tell my friends that the Porsche is never the Belle of Ball but it has its mystique and character and it's always the one you want ultimately. Sorry, getting a bit too emotional here but just wanna air it out.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

Thanks Freak 2 what do you think? I think Ferrari maybe the belle of the ball but it's never gonna have the "stick to your ribs" kindda feeling from a Porsche. Plus one of the few jokes I sometimes hear is that a group of tourists have mistaken a guy's F430 as the Lymbo and said to the driver, nice Lymbo you have... that's a bit embarassing. Never ever had I ever encountered someone saying "nice lymbo" to a Porsche driver. This simply proves that Porsche sticks to its belief and a Porsche is always a Porsche is always a Porsche, there is no substitute and it will never be mistaken as anything else.

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

There it is, the first 3.4 2007 Boxster S in France

Delivered on time, on the 26th of July. Well, it rocks !

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

Congrats on this beauty and many happy km
Glad to hear your dealer stuck to his promise regarding the 3.4 engine
Now it's time to start a separate thread with your driving impressions and lots of pics

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

Really nice color combination and great wheels, too! Congratulations.

Of course, now I feel ripped off with my MY06 280 HP hunk o' junk parked in the garage. I am officially obsolete!

Congratulations, the best colour and the best wheels. My dealer doesn't even get his demonstrator 3.4 for another month!

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

    More pics! More Pics!! :-)

    Please?

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

The 3.4 is what the boxster needs. The 3.2 is great fun but I have driven the Cayman and the 06 Boxster S.
The Cayman has the edge and neither car is over powered. My 07 3.4 Boxster will be here in November. And guess what, the 08 will probally be a little better the my 07. Welcome to "Keeping up with the Jones's".

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!

    Great color combo....Best of luck

    Re: 295bhp 3.4 Boxster S - Now it's Official!!!
