    Gas Mileage

    Hey Guys,

    When I am driving in the city, I typically get around 11 miles per gallon, or about 160-170 miles per tank. This seems kind of low to me. Is it consistent with other people's experiences?

    When driving on the highway, I rarely do better than 16-17 miles a gallon....this seems low as well....

    I got 15-16 mpg in the city and around 24-16 mpg on highway. 20-21 mpg combination. You must have driven very hard on your car.

    I'm averaging about 20 mpg with combined city/highway driving..

    I'm averaging 14.5 in very spirited city only driving. Going on road trip to Chicago in early July. I'll post my avg. highway mpg then.

    I get arounnd 18 in the city and around 24 on the road. I don't drive hard though.

    2006 C2 S Cab: City 13 mpg; highway 20 mpg. Which model do you have? Everyone drives his car differently, but I think that anyone who averages 20 mpg, including city driving, must be driving at low RPM and quite gingerly. Also, air-conditioning and heating utilize lots of energy.

    hmmm..... I have a C2S coupe. I don't think I drive that hard, so it seems strange to me that I get such poor gas mileage.

    Something may be wrong with your car. In city driving I see about 18mpg(13l/100km) on the highway at 75/80mph I normally see about 25 mpg (9.5l/100km).All these are with A/C on.

    The best i have seen is about 26.5mpg on a long highway cruise.

    Hi Guys

    I get from a low of 15 to the best of 17.5 which is a combination of city and highway, i think mostly highway.

    24-26 mpg hwy (long highway drives with cruise control on & AC)

    I've been getting about 20-21 after I switched to Shell V-Power. I was getting about 19 when using Exxon premium (93 octane). Since you're stuck using the west coast premium of 91 octane, maybe that's one of the reasons why you're getting lower mileage.

    I been avg. around 17.6 mpg with most city driving and some real short hops on the interstate(5-8 miles). I just got my car so it is still in the break-in stage. Just rolled 600 miles. I would go the dealer and have your car check out 11 mpg sound real low, unless you are stuck in traffic a lot.

    I get around 12 city and 20 highway. My average is 14.8. I am a very aggresive driver and live in CA where we have only 91 octane. Also note that having the A/C on will lower your mileage by about 15% in my estimation.

    Your city mileage sounds normal and your highway mileage seems low.

    I'm driving the same roads as you.....Santa Monica, BH WeHo....my mpg is 11.4....crappy, but very consistent with yours.....nothing wrong with your car

    14-18 city, 18-23 highway.

    If you get any HIGHER than that, you probably aren't "enjoying" the car (too much: coasting, using cruise control, staying at or below the speed limit, etc.)....at least that is my experience!

    I routinely get 9-11 mpg with pure city driving - I think your car is running just fine!
    Cruising on the highway it seems to get mid 20s at around 80 mph.

    Not sure about the difference in UK miles vs US miles, but I get a long-term average of around 23 MPG including some very spirited driving.

    Same with my car, I only have 1600mile on the odo

    About 15 mpg in the city. I find that it makes a big difference if you use 4th gear a lot, rather than 3rd. I tend to stay in 3rd more because I like the exhaust sound at higher revs, but if you're interested in fuel economy, try using the higher gears as much as possible.

    I get about 18.5mpg with a C4S, with X51. Combination road and city traffic.

    Thanks for all the feedback guys. I feel better about the 11 mpg I'm getting. I no longer think anything is wrong with my car since I travel 7 miles to work in the morning, which takes about 15 minutes, but then takes about 1/2 an hour on the way home.....

    I don't want to talk about it .
    (I told my wife it's a sub-compact ,gets great milage and with the price of gas steadily rising it would be a great investment)
    Now if I can just keep her from reading this web site...

    Since I've started using 5th & 6th on highways, I see between 18 and 22 mpg instead of 15 even with aggressive driving through 4th.
