That's really quick, these are times a 997 could never dream of. If I do a 2'48" in my 997 (on Trofeo R) I feel like I'm at the car's (and mine) limit, this is 8 secs. clear of that!

i picked up my GT3RS today, see attached pic:::)))) (sorry for the bad quality, just an iPhone pic against the sun, better to come...). it is very hard to say something about the RS which has not been said before, so i keep this away from mainstream. today at first was a day of boring city driving just to get to know the car a bit (also we needed to do stuff around), feel its dimensions etc (with underground parking in tight spots, outside parking in the center of vienna.....) just to check out the day-to-day practicability of the car. really no issues there, rather good suspension (the ride was more plush than i remembered from beirut), front lift does the job when going over speed bumps and in garages, parking is old-style before the times of cameras and sensors but ok. as some said before, you can use the RS for picking up your morning croissants without problems. in the city i felt totally watched and got a lot of thumbs-up from people around, more so than in the 458 italia. the RS really does not go unnoticed! later on some country roads and some highway driving, about using 10% of the car's potential i suppose (< 5K revs, i was a rather good boy today::::))). all very nice and cool but i do not really like the PDK-S in comparison to the ferrari double clutch transmission. the PDK-S is very fast and surely very efficient but i miss the much more emotional upshifts of the ferrari in RACE mode which you feel physically very much - almost in your bones - and the ferrari downshifts with the crazy rev-matching noise. the PDK-S is probably just as fast but it is tuned towards efficiency and not towards emotion - very typical for german engineering:::))). other than that, the RS has a great engine noise (i understand why some prefer the flat 6 boxer noise over the high pitched V8 ferrari wail, but i know the latter very well at read line and not yet the former well enough), quite a lot of road noise (much more than the 458 speciale) and all in all it is more practical than i thought. ah yes, and i miss the hyper-sensitive and fast steering of the 458.
all in all, the RS was a fun drive today even under very restricted circumstances. and my wife liked the day as well::::))). more to come, peter

PDK: I have never driven a Ferrari but flooring the RS in Sport mode does not go un-noticed in your body.
well, i felt that it just holds the gears much longer, probably until redline - which i avoided. i did not feel the violent shifts i know from the fezza but i need to explore more into this. tomorrow:::)))))

I forgot to say that the violent shifts feels most when you letting the PDK to the shift.

btw it was interesting how easy and immediate it was to return to the stalk blinkers and wipers after almost three years of the ferrari steering wheel. fundamentally i believe that the ferrari 'on-steering' controls are more ergonomic but i have used stalks now for forty years and that does not go away. however i do not like the porsche paddles. too short and i prefer them to be fixed without turning with the steering wheel. this requires nearly to have very long paddles. off to more driving today:::)))
