These are some of the finer examples of journalists in the auto world.

Brilliant,honest all knowing experts with a talent and ability.

Only they knew that testing collision systems actually meant hitting something.

It looks like if they crashed on purpose, because I have never seen a picture of a photographer taking a picture of another photographer taking a picture.....

These pictures actually tell you exactly what I'm always talking about. Car journalists may feel like gods (their press colleagues sometimes behave the same, had an "encounter" with a female journalist who took away my parking spot by making a reckless turn and entry, she almost hit my car and her apology was "I'm from the press".

). A few car journalists who drive high performance cars on a regular basis or even own one, are trustable and they know their job. All the others...well...

And car manufacturers can sing a song about crashed supercars after press launch events.

I compare Boxing journalists to Car journalists.

Boxing journalists cant fight and Car journalists cant drive.

The few exceptions that come quickly to mind are Sean O'Grady in Boxing and Paul Frere, Tiff and a few others in the car world. Sorry if I missed some of the German and other ones but they dont get published in the US and Sport Auto has no distribution here.

That one Italian magazine,and I apologize for not remembering its name, that has fantastic drawings and great testing details is just never seen here at all.

What happened here was the driver turned off the CST which is the traction and stability device. Shortly thereafter he crashed the car.

These devices DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

I recall one of the US car mags did a story a few years ago detailing backgrounds of their writers. Most came from " liberal arts " degrees , not even engineering and kinda stumbled onto auto journalism. Most drove " school teacher -like " vanilla cars and trucks to work. Of course, they had taken a few driving schools and voila - now had the credentials to tell Porsche's or Ferrari's test drivers/engineers ( and the world in their critiques ) that this or that car had handling quirks " at the limit " ( never the tester ! ) .

Nick, he obviously had poor judgement and quite obviously
the performance driver courses he has mooched off of werent enough to instill him with any.

You cant look to devices to save you from simple physics of
velocity, friction,mass, momentum and the conservation of energy.

They might mask it to an extent, but in the end
its up to the human brain to make sound decisions.

Maybe he admitted his speed to them.

In that case he would deserve a second ticket for idiocy .

Or maybe it was just time to ticket one of the testing
journalists that day for something - like driving and being
a nuisance.

Damage could have been worse, seems like the driver is very stubborn - perhaps that translates into his driving technique as well

Judging from the Uniform, looks like they are in Italy - if theres one thing I learned from my brief stay in Italy is that the Polizia are NOT to be messed with. You would think the Ferrari should have helped him get out of any trouble... but alas.
