Pic of my modded 2005 996TSCab

Well, since I spent most of today trying to photograph and upload onto rennteam pics of my new Noble M400, I didn't want to "leave out" her jealous sister-my 996TSCab, my summertime daily driver, and not exactly a slow-poke either.

Of course, all the mods. are performance-related, no pimping here, and the only thing noticeably different, of course, from the "stock" engine bay, is the EVO V-flow Venturi-concept airbox/intake. I'm tempted to upgrade her further, once my warranty expires (2009), to an 800HP package, but I don't know if I'm willing to risk re-building the engine and exchanging the KKK K24's for the GT800 turbo's that EVO uses. Anyone with any exeprience with 996TT's modded with EVO's GT packages (HP upgrades run from 640 to 1080)?

My only aesthetic critique of the 996TT is the loss of the solo circular headlamp assembly, and I'm glad to see it back on the 997 series. Otherwise, I'm not changing a thing exterior-wise.

I am indeed thinking of changing the suspension this winter. I could pick up the ROW/OEM European (X73) package. I understand it lowers the front by 25cm/about 1 inch, and the rear by about 1/2 inch. I am also intrigued by the adjustable suspensions available. I have heard of the Bilstein PSS9 Porsche suspension package, which allows one to lower the suspension from 1.25-2.25 inches in front and back, with nine adjustable firmness settings, for a firmer/more planted feel. Any knowledge of the Bilstein product? Quality? Reliability?

Yes Christian, no pimping, although I was tempted to bling it up a bit with an all-carbon GT2 wing, but I haven't...yet.

Unofficially, it's advertised to max. out at 600HP, although I haven't dyno'ed it. But it does feel like 600HP, and about 850Nm of peak torque at about 4,000rpm. It follows the same curve of the 996TTS torque curve since the turbo's are the same KKK K24's spooling up, but the boost peaks at 1.2-1.5bar, so the curve keeps going up when the stock torque curve levels off.

Al, I have the FVD version of the PSS9 (custom spring design)...and I love it. BTW the OEM suspension for a turbo is X74 not X73 and it most definately can be gotten. Looks like your air filter is crammed in weird...looks bent?

Check with Protomotive or Ultimate Motorwerks as well as EVO for upgrades to the power. You should not be boosting 1.5...you definately need to upgrade the boost hoses as well (can't tell from the pic as mine are red!

Beautiful turbo S Al. Best thing about it is that it looks stock.

Statman, the X74 is for the carrera while the X73 is made for the turbo. I think that you're right in that 1.5 is way too much boost. It shouldn't even come close to 1.3 because at that level, the throttle body shuts down.

I won't change the suspension until winter, when I have more time and I won't miss a day of summer driving, but the Bilstein's sound interesting.

The airbox might look "bent" because the rubber rim is folded, but it's set right. And yes, I have uprgraded silicon hoses (I kept them black), and I've had no leaks.

Usually, the digital gauge reads 1.0-1.2 with the throttle mashed down in second gear, but ONCE in a while...1.3-1.5.

I don't know if it's accurate, and I haven't had any "shutdowns." So maybe it's a mis-read.

if you lower the car using Bilstein PSS9's, you're going to be riding on the bump stops, even at GT2 ride height.

Actually, with the 600HP and the louder exhaust, I am just BEGINNING to enjoy the car's sound-must have been all that heavy metal music I listened to growing up.

I'll admit, I haven't taken mine up to 290km/h yet (limited opportunities in the USA)-top up or down-only about 200km/h (125mph) last summer-top down, and I barely heard any wind noise. But this year I have more incentive to go faster.

Besides, 0-160km/h in 7.5 is starting to feel slow.

I'm looking for mid-6's, with the quarter in the 10's.

Yes, the car would certainly ride low, and just my driveway alone (>20% incline

) would be hard when it rises from street level.

I know the X73 lowers the car about 25mm all 'round. Isn't the "Turbo Sport" package (? Euro MO30 kit) more conservative-20mm front/10mm rear?

if you lower the car using Bilstein PSS9's, you're going to be riding on the bump stops, even at GT2 ride height.

The Euro M030 kit is the standard Euro suspension as far as I can remember.The best thing you can do is order the X73 from Gert at Carnewal. Not sure if it's suited for the Cab (structural rigidity?), but it's a better option than any aftermarket suspension, when it comes to road use.

Statman, do you know how much (or little) one can lower front and rear with the PSS9? I think I had seen on their (or another) website a range of 1.25-2.25 inches. Do these #'s jive? The X73 lowers by 20mm (4/5 inch), maybe not as low as the PSS9?

I lowered mine 7/8" in front and 3/4" in rear. I think they have settled a little more after riding for a while. I think 1.25 is max that I would go. There was a rather long thread some time ago about a guy who had his PSS9 at GT2 height and he did hit the bump stops (not good). You can also get different versions of PSS9. Al, I will tell you there are other coil overs out there...JIC and Motons for example that are better for track, but for all around, the PSS9s have been very good for me and, did I say...way better than stock (also adjustable).

I don't know about FVD's version, but the standard PSS-9's aren't conducive for GT2 height ride.
