ALDO:If you could get a 540 for very low money or a good lease go for it - the car feels almost the same as the 570.
That's also what the dealer says ......
But to me the car looks too much like an exotic to have it as a DD . And as a real exotic I would rather have the 720 ...
For the moment I am not chopping, only looking

After spending some time around and in the 720S I couldn't get it out of my mind. It feels like a $1M hypercar...only more futuristic then most of the current $1M hypercars :) I could get a reasonably early allocation for the 812 and it would certainly keep it's value well but I can't imagine myself choosing to drive it over the 488 or the 720S.

Ok. I am liking it more and more. Feels more refreshing and exciting than yet another Porsche. Being an engineer the brand McLaren attracts me too 
The German brands are missing bit in emotion. The Italian brands have too much attitude. Maybe it is time for a British car next...

570GT seems to be selling better in my region than the 570S. Good deals available for 540 (very good deals) and 570.

Mclaren is a great package - People who just read magazines and look at Pictures will never get it - I was seriously blown away by the 675 and now the 720. Although I believe the 540 and 570 will loose quickly value - it's probably a fantastic 2nd Hand buy for anybody who is looking for something different

It would be if they would sound a bit different that that typical generic V8 "farting" you hear from those Biturbo V8 engines. 
Also, it is a problem for me that there are only limited dealerships options in Europe and even worse with maintenance/repairs on trips. One reason I've sworn to never get an exotic. This can improve however and a guy who already listened to the new 720S says that it sounds better than the 650S for example. Cannot really comment on this because I haven't seen or heard the new 720S in person. The 570S sounds better than the 991.2 Turbo S but reminds me a little bit of a M3/M4 with Performance exhaust.
I love the details and the performance on these cars though, especially the new 720S seems to offer a great value for the money (even if I'm not a fan of the front). McLaren clearly knows what customers want and I am very appreciative of such things.

The dealer swore that with the optional €5000 sport exhaust the 720S sounds great, much, much better then their previous models. If it is anywhere close to the sound of the 488 then I'll be more than happy.
I was surprised that both launch edition cars that were offered to me didn't have the external carbon-fiber elements. Either the fully specced cars had been sold already or McLaren wanted to set a more reasonable price point for the first deliveries. Both were slightly bellow €300K.

Why don't you just wait a little bit... McLaren announced many different models/variants over the next couple of years, so it is safe to say that once a 750LT or whatever hits the market, 720S offers will get more interesting.

That's exactly what I did. My custom specced car is supposed to arrive in late September / early October which is 1-2 months after the first launch cars deliveries.
As for RC's suggestion to wait for more special models, I am tired of waiting for unannounced future models. I'd rather live in the present and enjoy the 720S while it is fresh. Sometimes the time it takes to overthink car purchases is more expensive than the deprecation hit of just flipping them.

I went to the dealer tonight and was reunited with my old GT4. New owner had it there for a clear bra...
They had two 570's and a 570GT with a 720S in the way...
