    rhino,

Sorry that some doofus tail-ended you. That is one of my constant fears when I'm out driving. I had some jerk in a beat-up pickup (notoriously bad when braking) riding my tail-end the day I took delivery of my 997S (last Feb. 20) and was driving home (I live about 90 miles from my dealer). After a while, I just pulled into the right lane and let him go. When people tail-gate me, I now leave extra room for stopping by staying further behind any car in front of me. As I said, it's my greatest fear when driving my Porsche.

Hope you get it fixed up to your satisfaction, and I hope the skunk who hit you gets nailed by his insurance company for his inattentive driving.

    Jim

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

$h!t...that sucks! How much was bail after you beat the crap out of him?

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Ugh!!! That blows! So sorry to hear that.

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

    Sorry to hear that....

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

That's horrible. Sorry to hear that.

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

OUCH! I know the feeling. When I first got my SL 55 I was in bumper-to-bumber trafic and the drive by wire brakes go out (factory recall) and the brand new SL rear ends the lady in front of me. It was fixed like new ... but boy the p..s's you off, especially when it is not your fault. It seems like it always happens to a brand new car! Pictures???

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

I know how you feel. In '01, I had my M3 for ONE DAY, a big 26 miles when a FORD VAN backed into me in a parking lot and put a gash in the rear bumper.
Replacement was perfect and she even called a few days later to be certain all was ok.
    Hope you're as satisfied.Chin up!

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

OMG! That has got to suck! Hope she will be fixed up and be back on the road quickly!

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Thanks guys I'm fealing alot better now. The car is a dream to drive. Here are a few pics.

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Relieved to see only slight damage. Less than my incident on Feb. 14th of $3400 damage.

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Yeah it could have been allot worse. Regardles I love the car, and I'm very blessed to be driving it

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

    Welcome to the cabclub

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Beautiful car, while I am so sorry about the damage, it's not that obvious and now days with the quality of body work your car will look original Gorgeous car, enjoy

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Now I might try to get rid of that park assist

Keep the park assist. It will save you more agony in the future.

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Rhino, I post this pic in the hope it may help you feel better. At least you didn't inflict the damage on your P-car as I did! I live alone and have 2 vehicles. I hardly ever have company but I did this past weekend. I let them keep their vehicle in my garage next to the P-car and I kept my Honda Element ("the toaster") in the driveway. I went to take Bill for a drive, backed the P-Car s-l-o-w-l-y out of the garage and heard the awful metal-to-metal grinding sound. Not an excuse but I'm so used to their NOT being another vehicle out there I'm afraid I didn't even look. Damage to Honda, $683. Damage to P-car, $1,031. Damage to my sense of being a good and careful driver, $ incalculable!
    I don't need PDE, I need freaking Driver's Ed!!

Both vehicles to be fixed shortly and the world will be right side up again.

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

rhino and Don, I hope your babies are like new very soon!

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

    Beauty , rhino! Congratulations!

Looks as if the bumperettes did their job.

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Thanks Richard. I know why it happened, I was DWS; driving while sober!

The damage to the Honda Element I call "Watson". I sort of rubbed the two cars together.

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Good that you can keep a good attitude about it!

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

    Zoloft is a wonderful thing!
I take it for anger management.
It was either Zoloft or years of counselling.

Plus it's 5 days later, that helps too but I'm still a doofus. I apologized to both vehicles and told them I'd make them new again.

Ya gotta wonder if "Watson" had been yearning, lusting for the opportunity to rub up against the C4's sultry hips?

Although hard to laugh at these mishaps when they occur, it becomes easier with the passage of time. A couple of years ago I had a dealer side-swipe my new BMW on delivery day-- sales associate gouged the front bumper, quarter panel and wheel on a brick pillar flanking the delivery holding bay! They offered me several alternatives to remedy the situation, all of which were more than fair.....but I had not even sat in the driver's seat yet, which was overwhelmingly bad karma to me, so I waited another two months as they ordered another car for me at a large discount. In retrospect I probably should've taken their original offer of repair and compensation and just gone on; funny thing is that I still see around town the exact BMW on which I declined delivery -- driven by its eventual owner, always looks like he's enjoying himself a great deal....C'est la vie.

Speedy repairs to you, Rhino and Don.
Congrats, Rhino- the S cabrio looks great, esp with the blue softtop & XRR wheels

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Thanks Damian, I wonder if there might be a little Honda Fit or maybe even a baby Boxster in my garage in a few months? Anyone know the "gestation period" on these things?

Re: Just picked up my new 997Scab

Don and rhino , very very sorry to read the bad news , wish you and your babys the best speedy recovery . And Don I look forward to your fixed pics ..

    Take it easy buds..

    throt..
