Dario, car is awsome but, it is not faster then Z06 at high speed(0-200km/h)... They tested both versions manual and TIP, as far as I know manual will be in next AMS. TIP version? Hmm, let's say that difference is extremly small...
One other hint-Sport Auto will have manual with LSD,PCCB and Michelin Cup's for Supertest(June or August issue)...

Not to start another argument over the Z06 but if the Z06 can d0 198 m.p.h, then the 997TT is 3-4 m.p.h slower on the top end. The only difference is that the Z06 might do it's top end several times before the engine retires while the 997TT will shine over and over again

World first test will be in next issue of german Auto,Motor und Sport Issue 13/2006 07.06.2006.
Let's wait then for final results...
let me have a guess: five stars, perfect if slightly boring, fuel tank too small

You win the award for the most ignorant statement of the day!!! The Chevy small block V8 used in the Z is as bullet proof as any engine around, if not more so! Just look at the engine performance/reliability of the C5R & C6R. I have had 7 Vettes, run the hell out of them, and NEVER an engine problem. But my 911...Don't ask!!!

Well, it is not the Tip with SC.
Let me guess: 0-100 kph in 4.0 seconds and 0-200 kph in 13.1 seconds?

13.1s? If that should be the outcome of the AMS test it would be a huge disaster. From that day on I would call the 997TT a piece of crap. And I am not kidding here.

If the TT did 0-200 in 13.1 the GT2 would probably do it in 12s or so
I think Ferrari 599GTB would be the only answer then

Did the roof ever fly off your 911? Didn't think so.
1. I thought the post that I was replying to was about engines. If I am wrong, please let me know.
2. The roof never flew off of my 911...OR any of my Vettes!

If you keep the Z06 engine constantly at high revs, you will have very big engine problems.
The reason is simple:because it has a big stroke(100mm I think) average piston speeds are high. The bearings and other parts wear out very quickly. This is also a reason why gears are so tall in Corvettes(to keep the revs low). It's not because it has SOOOOO much low end torque. The 997 Turbo has a lot more than that and has normal gear ratios.
Also, specific numbers are well below 100hp/L or 100Nm/L.The engine isn't maxed out. With 7L of displacement, they can afford to do that.I wonder what they could do with 5L of displacement...
I know many different people that run the hell out of many different Porsche engines with no problems at all.
As for the C5/6R,I don't think it's a big accomplishement.
Beating cars that were build and developed by Prodrive has become very common. So I don't think they need to extract as much power from the engine as possible.
But if they are so talented in building race cars, why don't they run in the prototype class?I think it begins with "A" and ends with "udi".The French and Brits aren't too chicken
to challenge them but the fathers of the allmighty C6R are...strange.
Please, don't compare race engines with stock engines. It's day and night.
