It really doesn't make sence. The Carrera not even made two years after the facelift, the GT3 came out months ago, and they are sending a new model???? At least we could here something like 380Hp for the Carrera, 420 for the Carrera 4 S and 500Hp for the Turbo for these nes models.
PAG strategy seems more like Fiat strategy, they put new facelifts Puntos every two years with different lights and bumpers, 4 or 6 more HP and that's all....

It's always been like this with Porsche man. History repeats itself.
The 993 Turbo is a 95 model, the 993 Turbo S limited edition with 430hp was a 97 model and the final 450 hp version only had a one year life, 993 and 996 were sold new together for a year in 97/98.
So it's the same now with the 996, not surprised at all that GT3, Turbo cab, etc have less than two years life.
These cars need harldy any development from Porsche, most of the engineering has already been done, it's just clever time management and marketing.
Constant evolution....

Well it's good to know it'll be here this year, period. I do recall RC saying that the first offical pics should show up sometime in March? If this is true then it would make perfect sense for the 997 to be at Geneva. Porsche could always change things at the last minute. I mean looking at this new picture you can see that this car is ready to go, so why wait until sepetember to launch it?????? Im pretty sure they have quality down pat?????

It will be like the 996 and the Cayenne, first, Porsche will release two pictures, one front and one rear, that won't do the 997 complete justice. We'll see these pics around the Geneva show, and then the car will be introduced to the world at the September Paris Auto show.

The market has changed considerably since the ninties. Porsche did not have competition and could get away with tinkering with the models and be able to sell them.
Not so today. Too many other good sport cars to choose from and they are substantially cheaper.

Of course there won't be a chrome ring (thanks god) but a tiny silver ring which is actually part of the front light and made out of the same plastic material will be there. Doesn't look bad at all. There have been ideas to use a black painted ring but apparently this didn't look right with certain colors.

A black ring would be diastarous! There is even a chrome ring around the healight of the 996. Very subtle touch.
I love how the headlights are oval, Im sure when viewed from the front this car will look menacing, as they are slanted gving an "evil eye" look. The headlights are nothing like the 993 headlights.
