    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

good stuff. I expected the usual TopGear lambasting of anything American and the suspicious wet track

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

hahaha... C6 Z06 rocks......Even JC can't deny the fact..... I'm tempted to drive one......

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

The usual...outperforms $200k+ cars but a little rough around the edges. Unrefined is nothing we haven't heard before...but he didn't say anything bad about build quality or interior material, and he is one to pick on that. For him, that was a very good review!

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

The Corvette is a nice car.

It is not "rough around the edges."

Its just not kitted out the same way as
997 is and you cant order special colors etc..

However, I maybe the only one who actually thinks it is way OVERPRICED.

Compare the stickers of Z06 to a BMW 6 series.

The Z06 has to be the most profitable car GM has built
    in their entire frigggin history.

Hats of to Lutz for pulling that off!

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

At some point I'll probably stop by a dealership to get a test drive.
Too many rave reviews about it being really really fast.

I just hope the one I get in has its roof bolted on tightly.

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

So Cal, there are no test drives.

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

    Why?

I'll even bring my own piece of cardboard in case it rains.

Seriously though, I imagine the demand is still too high to get them to give a test drive however... I've found that many dealerships somehow "manage" to give out test drives if you pull up in the"right type" of vehicles. (this may be a SoCal bling thing)

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

The Z06's are allocated cars. few dealers have one.

they keep them with as few miles as possible.

You could pull up in anything and the answer
would be the same, NO. LOL

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

That settles it... I'm pulling up in an IROC-Z.

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

SoCal, you would never buy a Z06 anyway.

When Porsche launches the 07 Vancarrera with power sliding doors, seating for 8 and heated floor mats, we know you will be first inline.

Lemme tell you something about Z06's at dealers, NOT even the GM's gets to drive one home for the weekend.

And your Indiana passport wont impress them either

    Re: Top Gear Z06 Review

i have made a test drive few months back...but the car was to the chevrolet agent in lebanon .. fast car, but i hate the image..

Jim, that is indeed a very interesting way of thinking!

I am not convinced yet - the reports I have seen so far recall it to be a very fast, even good handling car. It definately lacks the passion for me - I would get frustrated everytime I'd drive or sit in this. The only think that'd make me tempting is the speed but it wouldn't make me wake up sweating in the middle of the night.

The fact that JC compares the Z06 to the Maranello - and recalls them both looking the same - just makes me doubt his sanity!

Your right, he is crazy. He should have compared it to the Enzo!

In getting into a Z06, I would think about the several recent (not 1966) LeMans wins using the same motor and chassis...and would be awe inspired about such an accomplishment in MODERN times. To think MY car has beaten the BEST the world has to offer over and over

My heart would pound with excitment at the thought that much of the technology on my street car is derived from the world dominating race program.

Like an Italian (Ferrari), German (Porsche) or Brit (Aston Martin), who feels national pride, thinking about the legends they have created. Pride that parallels or surpases olympic achievment...as an American I am equally as proud of the legend that Corvette has and is creating within the Global Racing community. We had a long hard battle with many bruises and broken bones through the years, but for the same reason an Italian will NEVER root for a English football (soccer) team, I will always stand behind Corvette. It's not about money, it's about rolling up your sleeves and getting in the game.

To all the American's on this forum, think about what you have in your own backyard. Take another look at the GT40, Viper, and Corvette.

I predict little support for that viewpoint from the super beetle crowd.

    But I say,

Can't wait the the SS Corvette, and all the excuses to come from the competition.

Ah, yes! The "super Beetle crowd" has taste .
The Corvette is a nice car, very good value for money, but it will never stick in Europe, due to image and perceived lack of quality (whether that's true or not is debatable).
