    997S X51 tested in Autocar

Again sorry, don't have a scanner, but was looking forward to read their opinion as I've got it myself.
It's a very short review, but it got 5 stars out of 5.
Distinctive mid range punch compared to standard S and more shove from the start, main difference is above 5000 rpm where the engine is a peach.
So nothing new, just confirmed all the other reviews.
They say the best bit is the exhaust noice, which is PSE, so that's cool.
Only problem is once you tick the option you get close to GT3 price but they still recommend it.

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

Yep - I read that today as well. It's funny, the review is in the 'First Drives' section. But X51 has been available for a long time now yet they only managed to drive it now? Come on Autocar! Not good enough!

Actually, I jest - there's an absolutely cracking write up comparing the BMW M6 with the 997 GT3. No contest!

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

    Hehehehhe M6 x 997GT3 ? Hehehehe
What they say about this "challenge"?

Still not to late they give you a great trade in value for your beast, get the GT3. You're single you can do it .

I really did think about it but the 997S is really fine for me by now.

Plus I brought back three chicks home last weekend, and I'd definitely get the Gt3 sport club version, so with the rear cage, no possible senor!

How did you manage that even with the rear seats !?

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

Maybe you should limit yourself to one chick. This would solve a lot of your problems, honestly.
Trust me, at age 41, you'll be happy if you have to deal only with one chick.

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

The more the merrier, I say.

That is the best advise you could give to people here.

Now we know why Germans first invented Aspirin!

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

    Thanks Fanch!

Three sounds like a decent number to me!

You can afford a 911, but not a scanner - what's up with that

But no need for a scanner - Tim to the rescue - here it is:
    Porsche 911 Coupe 3.8 Carrera S Powerpack

Listening to this engine is possibly the biggest thrill on offer. The deep, mechanical thrash is so alive and intoxicating, it feels as if you could reach out and part the sound waves with your hand. It gurgles, spits, brays and yowls depending on the crank speed and responds to the throttle with absolute purity.

Well, it shouldn't be. Comparing a M6 and GT3 is a bit apples or oranges if you ask me. Or like the 997 Turbo vs 599 GTB we have another place on Rennteam.

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

yeah but it would still be some interesting reading though......scan please!!

    Thanks for wise words.
    I know you're right.
I just need to be convinced in a very practical way.

To get two in the back they must have been 'one day old chicks'

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

o'right, this chick thing has gone far enough, but very funny indeed.

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

hellgeb- thanks alot. any pics of the inside of the 997 GT3 ? was it clubsports ?

Re: 997S X51 tested in Autocar

    I take 997 GT3 to any multiple given M6's

    M6 cannot struggle to 997 GT3.
