    Re: Short 997 FAQ

Wow!!That's a very pro & interesting FAQ, thanks RC.

Re: Short 997 FAQ (Update: Nov 1st 2005)

How much louder is the SE? I would want a system that at steady revs (cruising) was not booming/resonant ---most such systems have SOME rpm when they are always noisy and not useful for cruising --where is that noisy area in the SE? I thought there was a switch to a quieter setting also? Cost roughly in $ (US will do)

The sound of the PSE during cruising is a little louder than with PSE off, but not alot, in my opinion. Loud enough that it sounds good but not so loud that it's bothersome. The real sound of PSE comes into play when you accelerate. The faster you accelerate, the louder it gets. So conceivably, you can drive quietly if you baby the throttle as you leave your house (to avoid upsetting the neighbors). Hope this makes sense. Honestly, I've forgotten how the regular exhaust sounds now that I have PSE on all the time.

Re: Short 997 FAQ (Update: Nov 1st 2005)

when is a targa version due to come out ?

    Re: Short 997 FAQ

Interesting to note that Porsche doesn't manufacture the roof anyway.

    Re: Short 997 FAQ

I pulled this from the rennlist forum but I thought it would be good in the FAQ. The weights were provided by Wheel Enhancement.

    11x19" 27 lbs. 12 oz.

    Porsche Factory Carrera Classic

    11x19" 28 lbs. 11 oz.

    Porsche Factory Carrera Sport Design

    11x19" 28 lbs. 3 oz.

    Porsche Factory Carrera Sport
    8.5x19" 24 lbs. 2 oz.
    11.5x19" 29 lbs. 4 oz.

    Re: Short 997 FAQ

One stupid question. Posted on some other thread as well but no one answered. Are any porsche's hand made? except the CGT?

    9. Is it true that the 20 mm sport suspension incl. LSD is the better choice for track racing than the PASM system?
Yes. The 20 mm sport suspension incl. LSD provides the sportiest setup for both, the 997 Carrera and 997 S.

The LSD and sport suspension option is not available in the US. Only option is PASM.

    Re: Short 997 FAQ

it's worth noting that with the carrera sport rims,
you get upgraded to 305/30's in the rear.

    Re: Short 997 FAQ

    34. Should I buy a 911?

No. There is always a better model that will be introduced in one year. Its a car, not an investment. Why buy it and enjoy it when you can wait and wait and wait. See a number of current forums.

Please note, this applies to all 911s, not just the 997.

First -20mm + LSD was a free optional in Carrera S model, but you have yo pay for it at now

Not true for Germany, still a free option (instead of PASM).
