    Seal Grey - Opinions

    I have read here & else where that Seal Grey will be dropped for MY2007. I want to clarify if it will become a "special color" or will stop being produced completely. In either case, if you are able to get a Seal Grey now & you like the color, will it's value / desirability be enhanced by becoming a special or discontinued color? Or, the grey that is replacing Seal Grey a better grey & the value (in the used market) of Seal Grey will diminish?

    I have the opportunity to take a seal grey & I do like it. But I would not want to go for it if its being replaced or discontinued due to the wrong reasons.

    If you like it go for it; I've got seal grey on my Boxster S and love the colour - it looks really great on the Cayman - I think I heard rumours of a meteor grey colour which I think is darker - I prefer the Seal. Who cares if it's discontinued? I don't think it will because it's a very popular colour - I also heard rumours it may become one of the "special colours" and will cost much more as an option. Who know If you like it, get it. I don't think it will affect resale.

    Seal is getting dropped from the color palette. The only way to get it would be as paint to sample (not to be mistaken with "special" colors like GT Silver), which means a lot of money and a much longer wait.
    It's getting replaced by Meteor, which is halfway between Seal and Slate.

    I don't think it'll have any impact on the resale value at all. Seal looked great and as far as I can tell, so does Meteor. Most potential buyers won't even be aware of the change, they're just after a grey Cayman after all.

    I also am interested in Seal Gray with tan interior. I like the color in the sun because it has a rich blueish look. However on cloudy days it appears darker gray. I'm down to either Seal Gary vs Artic Silver which looks great and is so popular. Can anyone comment on which color to select in your opinion. SkiMan06

    No, that's Carrara White in a snowstorm...

    Check the Boxster board - just posted a few new pics of my Seal/Sand in the morning sun... quite close to Tan?

    The dealer confirmed that seal grey will be replaced with meteor? grey. Its the same color thats on the new tequipment catalog for the boxster. It looks good but hardly looks grey to me. Comments?

    Don't trust studio photos. Lighting - not to mention heavy editing - can make a huge difference.
    There have been many Meteor pictures on the 997 Turbo board. It looks halfway between Seal and Slate.

    Eww that grey is ugly.
    Also, Lapis blue is going to switched to the special $3000 color!!! I was told this by a salesperson. I am so upset because the Cayman looks awesome in Lapis and i cant pay that much for paint:) hehe

    this is not meteor grey but Slate Grey the special colour.

    Seal is awesome, my 2nd favourite colour. Looks particularly classy in the shade or at dusk. Go 4 It!

    Since you're in Vermont you might want the darker color? I'm frequently in Vermont (Dorset/Manchester/Poultney) and notice that many cars are medium to dark in color, whereas in Hawaii where I live you see more lighter cars (but also black is very popular). I went with Arctic silver. I don't care that it's common. I love the color. In Vermont, however, I might go for seal gray or slate grey, which is a very rich (and expensive) color. But finally it just comes down to a matter of preference.

    I have a Seal Grey and every time I look at the color I just cant think of another color for me. It is a day and a night time color. I would probably think about Meteor, but I need to see it live to compare. Until today, I'm still biased for the Seal. Here are some pics of mine:

    Man I'm jealous I ordered my seat belt in silver but option got rejected as it was not available for the cayman then.
