    Thanks Joost...haven't done too much car stuff lately being a father and a husband lately. I do have a few new ones but this isn't exactly the right venue to post them. I'll try to dig up the 918 thread and post there.

    can the RS owners please tell me about the preferential break-in procedure for the GT3RS? at most 4K revs for the first 1K km and below 3K revs when oil temp is low? is that it or is there more to it? thanks in advance!!!!!!

    Don't forget to make a voodoo doll resembling AP and poke it with needles every 500km. This is important for the evil spirits to leave the new engine. I think.

    Good luck with the ruining... ops, running in of the engine indecision

    Well the most important aspect is to let the engine fully warmed up before revving it. 

    When cold, it's best to stay below 3k. 

    Those demo/press cars never had a chance to 'break in' conventionally yet they can still take the abuse, but Porsche do make sure the engine is warmed up first. 

    The initial 'break in' period is more about the other components on the drivetrain.

    Correct, as long as you wait for fluids to be up to temperature, you're fine. I've never broken in, as per book, any of my cars and they all run perfectly. Took my quasi new 675LT on the track last week, did two laps to warm everything up and then drove on the limit for the rest of the day, all good.

    The manual mentions 3000km, this is plain ridiculous.
