Lars997:This cars are absolutely stunning Gnil. I love this Heuer decor!
It does work marvelously . One side blue, one side red . I agree stunning and the best looking R I have seen . Makes it very special .
Also it is not aftermarket deco . It came out from Porsche Exclusif like this .

I wouldn't mind to make it aftermarket, but probably you might cross some logo rights.
Probably would look great on any 991, not only the R

The car does not belong to Tag -Heuer , but to a local Porsche collector . Not sure what the link is . He did lend it to TAG for the car show .

But he could have done a lot more to make it even more special.
The double stitches inside the car? he could have done it in red and blue. And uses red stitching for driver side and blue stitching on passenger side. just to list some examples.

noone1:I don't get the appeal of the mismatch in color. Is it historical or something? You'd never do something like that on any other car, so why on a 911 R is it so great?
I think some old 911 race cars from the 60's had this color scheme for Heuer (unless I only dreamed it)

Ignorance is a bliss
If you had spent the same effort on Google searching for TAG Heuer, Porsche and maybe Steve McQueen then you would have known by now.

To me the R looks way too bland . I have seen now quite a few times two drive around my area . On in GT Silver and one in Gulf blue ( same owner ) . The Gt silver could be a GTS , hardly any difference ...... and a GTS only looks like a GTS to us , for anyone else it looks like a Carrera . The Gulf blue looks already better on the roads, but just because of the color . When I saw it first in the dealers parking garage it did not look good . But on the road it is different .
As a special model, the R needs a bit of funkiness . The Heuer does bring that .
And if the whole purpose is to blend in and have a 911 that looks like any Carrera , then I rather have a non limited , collectible , undrivable because of value , wingless GT3 or GT4

But what's the reason to put it on an R and not any other 911 in the last X years? Would it be less cool in a base Carrera?

On a Carrera it would tacky and wannabe . The R is a special model, it can handle a special deco + the stripes '' make'' the R , they are part of the whole project

Nu är det krig?
Anyway, to be honest, I ouldn't find any reference to a red/white/blue Tag Heuer Porsche either.
(And you would have thought that if anybody knows anything about red, white and blue Porsches, it would be the Dutchies...)

The reference is to the watch directly. The Monaco Steeve McQueen wore.

Yeah, I knew that, but I don't understand why you would want that on your car... Well, to each his own I guess. It is a unique and rare thing and since it has kind of a historical racing link, it will probably be very popular soon.
