    Wow I am amazed how hot of a topic this is. I never realized that people wanted to play their iPods in their cars this bad. I wish we could get this kind of traction behind satellite radio because that is what I want. iPod is nice but give me sat radio.

    You can have satelite with the kit for the Cayenne. I am going to have it installed on delivery.

    Is your dealer going to install it for you? I was told by my dealer that they could not. It has been a few months since I ask though.

    Yes they are going to install it upon arrival. I am going to have them order the parts on monday. I hope they are not on back order. If you need a contact number for your dealer to call and get the info, I have the perfect guy in the
    Porsche service department in Connecticut. Let me know.

    Not yet - my dealership hasn't installed it in the car as of Tuesday. I'll check in with him later and give an update.

    Is it a DICE or a DENSION Ipod connector...

    I think it must be a DICE because on ahttp://www.dension.com/icelinkgateway500.php you can read that it will be not untill june in the market..

    Spoke to Matt yesterday at MM - no installation yet. I'm bringing my 987S for a windstop installation next Friday, hopefully they'll have the unit there so I can take pictures.

    I just took my 997 in for my 20K service and asked about this situation. My service manager said that a Porsche field engineer was there all of last week and had heard of a few dealerships installing ipod connections and satellite radio. He stated that this is not backed by Porsche and if corporate sees any dealers doing this they will be fined, etc. He also told me the engineer stated that they are working on something and within a year they hope to have this issue addressed. Not trying to burst our bubble, but just reporting what I was told...

    Sorry if this is a re-post: Dension's website states that the Gateway 500 system for iPod connection on MOST digital systems will be available for Porsche from the end of June 2006:

    Dropped my 987S for a windstop installation today...said no installation has been done yet for the adapter, I guess the adapter is in the audio shop that my dealership uses as they and figure out the install....still waiting for a photo-op opportunity..

    How exactly does an independent dealership get fined? Why should Porsche NA even care about this? The only issue is a warranty one. Customers mod their cars constantly, and udnerstand that some mods may void certain warranties.
