Mithras:A full carbon monocoque 710hp, fully analog, flat six, twin turbo, 225mph top speed all original tribute to the Yellowbird. Not a single Porsche part was used in the construction.
Besides the obvious benefits of the 700 bhp, I suspect the carbon fiber monocoque will be the real game changer.

I never was a fan of the designs of RUF; always a bit "crude" and primitive imo.
Having said that, the early models had a sense of purpose about them which this car shows as well.
Still, I have a feeling RUF saw the success of Singer and wanted a piece of the action...
Anyway, all in all a pleasant surprise and I think kind of cool

Couldn´t agree more with absolutely everything you said
J.Seven
J.Seven:Unexpected but very intelligent move from Allois Ruf, he will sell lots of those.
Well if he sells all of them, he'll sell 30 units
Supposed to cost EUR 700k

Let's be honest here: Now way I would pay 700k for one of those. Sorry.
I get it why Alois is doing it and it is (maybe) a clever business idea but...sorry...not my thing.

It is my thing (but can't pay for it), but wouldn't want the turbo motor. I'd be happier with the new 4.0 GT3 motor put in there. Maybe Alois will do that next...

Does simply skinning the car in CF really make it better/stronger/safer? The properties of CF are not the same as steel or aluminium. While CF is no doubt lighter, it doesn't seem likely they you can just interchange the two. I would think a good CF chassis would actually be designed differently.
Mithras:I would think it's pretty safe with a carbon monocoque. Certainly innovative for a "911"
Interestingly, this engine is wearing a 997GT2/RS intake manifold, quite distinctive and developed as an "expansion" manifold to work at higher boost pressure with the (then) new VTG turbos.... Ruf no doubt will be using non VTG turbos in his usual 996 turbo based Mezger offering. These intake manifolds are flow restricted to 700hp.....

DaveGordon:They also had the original Yellowbird, CTR2, and CTR3 on the stand
I saw it today - breathtaking . Not clear to me what it will sound like though and that is important, plus no one other than RUF has driven it yet. . it a nice contrast to the design flair and air cooled nostalgia of Singer. I'm tempted.

To my knowledge it is more than simply re-skinning in carbon fiber - I think you can see the carbon tub in the transparent graphic.

Spyderidol:Mithras:It's a Singer for 40 year old's that grew up watching Sideways Stefan on VHS as opposed to the Singer for 55 year old's watching Hurley Haywood or Jürgen Barth driving an RSR at Daytona or Le Mans.
I'm 57 and I wouldn't say "no" to this car at all!
Nostalgia?
For this kind of money, I would get a Singer (for the Nostalgia ) and a modern sportscar like a Huracan Performante or a 720S, 488 Spider or whatever.
Like I said, Alois certainly found a market for this car but it isn't my thing. The RUF CTR3 was pure horror for me. Interesting tech but the design? If I spend that much money on a car, I want an eye pleaser as well.
