So it sounds like there is an indicator telling you when the service is due, but many dealers recommend a service before then...
I'm a bit confused
Before picking up my 987S three weeks ago at the factory, my dealer told me to change the oil after the break-in period (3,000 km) and also to let them check the alignment. He also said, that I would find some sticker or something in the new car reminding me of this service.
However, the factory guy in Zuffenhausen told me that there is no need for such service. I just should get the oil change and regular maintenance at 20,000 km or after two years. Also there was no sticker in the car or something else in the manual/service booklet indicating the need for an "early check-up". AFAIK service/oil change requirements for the 997 models are similar to 987 models.
So the question is whether to follow the factory's recommendation or the dealerships recommendation. Of course the dealer will recommend anything generating revenue for the service department, which suffers from the prolonged service intervals for the new P-models (dealer quoted 420 Euro for the early oil-change + alignment check, whereas the factory guy assured me that any need for alignment work should be covered by the warranty and therefore the dealer should provide the service without charging for it)
