Man the Touring is just the best looking 911 right now !! (subjective I know) Every time I see new pics of one i fall deeper in love .

best looking until the Speedster arrives Smiley

Not so sure about that. The Speedster always looks a little awkward to my eyes. I would not say no to one though!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

It's a shame the headlights of the 991. Other than that the GT3 Touring is the perfect contemporary Porsche, gorgeous -specially in the last spec-, prestational, involving, discreet.

It's like a modern Porsche reimagined by Singer reimagined by Porsche again.

I'm not a big fan of the wheels either. Imho 918 WP wheels would look crisp.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Same, I always find the Speedster really odd looking in the back... Of course the Touring is the best looking one, and that’s why it only comes in manual...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Me too, the feature of any open top 911 is that you can drive without a roof if you want to, but not that its any nicer looking, on the contrary, unlike the Boxster, the 991 has a shape that looks weird without the roof, the back is too big and disproportioned on the lateral view even though the 991 has a smaller "hump" than previous models. Doesn't precisely make it look great compared to the Coupe or Targa but its a compromise you need to have for the advantages of driving with the top down.

The Touring to me is the best looking 911, with the perfect balance of sportiness and elegance.

Sorry, it looks like a run of the mill 911. Nothing more. Aside from the front end, no one will notice other than Porsche enthusiast.yes

Same can be said of every 911s, Turbo, GT3, GT3RS, etc.

The extra wing will be chalked up as a ricer mod for most people.

Beauty of a 911, it blends in and doesn't stand out.

I don't disagree with that statement Nick, that is precisely the point, that is a plus for a lot of people, in which I include myself. I can also understand why others may want the wing all all the exterior bell and whistles, nothing wrong with that at all, its a GT3, but to me this is the perfect 911 (save for the lack of rear seats, and ability to choose between PDK and manual).

Porsche GT cars and turbo's have differentiating design cues from the 911 range. That's my point.

As for blending in and not standing out, just order the GT and turbo cars in black.Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

My reasoning for going with the Touring, even though I still really want the rear seats, is that I want to keep it for a very long time and it's classic 911 lines will help it age gracefully.

The wing from previous generations never did in my opinion, unlike the RS which the wing always looks good with the rest of the design.

I have an aunt, who is 75. She knows the shape of a 911 and all she knows it's a Porsche, that's it to her knowledge.

It doesn't matter if I show up in a C4S, 911R, Turbo, GT3RS, GT3, or even the old Turbo 3.6.

She never quite can tell the differences other than color, but most of my cars are black so she doesn't even notice I came in a different car. She did noticed the big wing on the GT3RS, plus the orange color, her only comment was that oh you got a new 911 again, but why did I ruin it by bolting on a aftermarket wing.

I think her reaction can represent most of the non-car knowing public.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Nick the none Porsche public does know that the GT and Turbo's are different from the 911 line and considers them "special". FWIW, I happen to think the Targa is one of the most beautiful Porsche's and yet my GT cars received way more appreciative nods and compliments.Smiley

Update on the Engine-oil-loss of my friends .2 GT3

They could fix the problem without removing the engine from the car. After removing the rear bumper and the exhaust system the reached the two screws of the crankshaft-housing and replaced the O-rings under them.

The car was ready on friday afternoon and back on the street. Smiley
